Hi Dan,

A direct link to what you're talking about, rather than just the company website would help................

(Is it voice or pics? Pics won't be any good on a bike, and as most of us have GPS, we probably won't have a use for it...............)

Sponsoring the site as you're selling something would also be a good idea..................

At this point unable to navigate to your site. Try another link.

Looks pretty naf to me ....and what a horrible website. The one thing I was interested in was the demo film so you can try and figure out what it is all about and that was " coming soon" It seems like a gimick that is only likely to attract the same sad people that get sucked into down loading crazy frog ring tones and the like. :mmmm

How much for the phone call to the computer?

is there a yearly rate?... and do you pay every time you want to find a route after that?

does it recalculate if you go off route?

how long on average does it take to get a route sent to your phone?

Is it better on any certain types of phones?

Any hidden costs or extras for different services?

Hmm isn't this similar to the way you can use GPRS on the handsets quoted to locate where you are anyhow ??

I have used the Orange version of this quite a few times.

Hi guys, well thanks for the interest, and a great set of questions.

Let me first say that the system is fully up and running but it is in beta testing although i have not had any problems with the system yet other than not getting a gps position.

let me see if I can answer question one at a time:

How much for the phone call to the computer?

-- this depends on your contract with your provider :

here are some links for you
orange - http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/orangedata.htm

o2 - http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/o2gprs.htm

vodaphone - http://www.mobileshop.org/costs/vodadata.htm

to give you an idea the total download size of teh app is about 800 KB and about 9KB to calculate the route (for me so far at any rate) it is possible to download the main app of the web and then transfer it to your phone which obviously cuts costs.

is there a yearly rate?... and do you pay every time you want to find a route after that?

-- well there until August the service is free, after that who knows! but the maximum expected price (should there be one) is around $2 a month.

does it recalculate if you go off route?

yup

how long on average does it take to get a route sent to your phone?

-- my average time for the route to be sent is about 5 seconds, and each route about 10 Kb

Is it better on any certain types of phones?

being a java app, it is independent of what type of phone you use, the only difference is screen size i guess!

Any hidden costs or extras for different services?

nope, no hidden costs. As long as you take into account the cost of your GPRS until august it is free.

Gecko - sorry you don’t like the site, i can assure you that the system is no gimmick, you should try it for your self, it really is quite cool.

Jon - the company website is only about the sat nav system as that is our sole business. the system gives very very simple arrows to follow on the phone and also clear voice commands in 101 languages (if you feel like practicing in the language of the country your riding in for instance)

hope this answers some of your questions, if not let me know.
