Navigator 2 map Updates HELP!!!

I bought a bike last year with a Navigator 2 unit which is registered to me now but has no paper work discs etc.
I have managed to update the operating software to version 4.8 but am still stuck with mapping software version 6.

Can anyone help me with what is the most upto date mapping for europe that I can buy, for the NAV 2 and where I have to buy it from.
The garmin site says I have the most upto date mapping, but I have seen these units for sale with Version 8 or 9 maps on them.

I am a bit of a nim nom when it comes to sat navs so any help would be gratefully received.

Your local BuMW dealer should be able to order you a CD / DVD with all the latest mapping on. At least they used to do them for the Nav2 and Nav3.

It's free from BuMW, you simply pay a fee to Garmin to unlock it.

Slot the disc into your PC's disc drive and follow the inscreen instructions.

This assumes that Garmin / Mapsource / BuMW are still supporting the Nav2?

Garmin mapping now only support the NT version of maps.

I don't think they have updated non NT maps for a year, so 2008 or perhaps 2009 might be the last non NT versions.

If you have a DVD for your current version have a look and see what year/version number it is, and if it says NT in the title ?

Thanks for response. I have tried my local dealer canons in braintree and customer service has never been great there. No interest in helping me as I didnt buy it from them.

Show how stupid I am what does the NT stand for when everyone talks about navigators and mapsource etc. I have got some discs for it at home but they were old ones given to me by a mate and not installed on the unit itself.

NT? No idea what it stands for but it's like a suped up version of the bogstandard data etc.

If you call Garmin with the serial number of your device they will tell you what the latest mapsets / software updates available are. They are very helpful on the phone.

My honest suspicion is that your Nav2 is heading towards the obsolete bin.

The Nav. 2 is basically a 2610.

The latest mapping is City Navigator Europe v8.

There are no updates beyond that.

That's odd, my BMW NavII is on City Navigator Europe Version 9.

I know, but that Mapping has been 'withdrawn' and there are no more unlock codes for it... I was on the blower to Garmin today about it. If you have a code for V9 then that's OK, but you can't 'upgrade' to it now...

Apparantley according to the man at garmin they no longer have any updates for this unit. they all stopped at the end of 2009.
When I asked if there was likely to be any old stock still out there I was told that they are no longer supplying unlock codes.

That means that I have to throw away a perfectly good durable easy to use sat nav and get a new one unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Simple... keep using it

Non 'up to date' mapping still works

Edit:- I'm sure they can supply unlock codes for Version 8 Mapping..?
