I'm thinking of buying a used navigator v but want to know about the map updates.

My 660 is registered to my Garmin account using a lifetime update voucher. Is the nav v the same? Would the seller be able to transfer the map update entitlement to me so I could update using my Garmin account? Is this an easy prices in case I buy from someone not too IT literate? I don't want to end up with a device I can't update.

Thanks
Dae

I was under the impression that the Nav V's all came with lifetime updates but someone will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong!

When I sold my 660 with lifetime updates I simply de-registered it from my account and the guy who bought it just re-registered it and it came up with the updates.:thumb

My Nav V came with lifetime updates.

I'm no tech genius,in fact much the opposite, but I believe that all the information is now stored in the device and when plugged into your computer it will tell you when and how to update it.

When I say all the information is stored in the device,if for example you wished to plan a route and needed to be on higher detail on the maps, unlike "mapsource" which allowed you to plan a detailed route then transfer to your device e.g a 660,you cannot plan a detailed route on "basecamp"without having your Nav V plugged into your computer as the computer gets it's detailed info from the device.

That's only true if you don't have the maps downloaded to your computer. Next time you update tick the box for both computer and device.
