Navigator IV already registered

Recently bought year old nav4 off eBay, obviously it's registered to original owner on myGarmin. Is there anyway I can get it re-registered for me? Loathed to ring garmin support as they might assume I've nicked it. Apologies if this question has been answered before, I did search and couldn't find anything. I can't be the 1st person with this problem , seen a least 5 sold on eBay in past couple of months.

Need to ask the old owner to de register the unit. Should be easy if he logs on to Garmin website and enters his details, password etc it will ask him if he wants to deregister it. Then you log on and just follow the links to register a unit, simples.. done a couple over the years. May be just try yourself it will tell you if registered to another user or may just go through if he has done it before selling.

Contact garmin by e-mail explaining the problem. They will confirm that it is registrered already and ask for proof of purchase. So do a screen shot of your receipt or paypal transaction paying for it.

If all ok they will de-register it from the old account ready for you.

I had te same issue this week, all sorted within a few hours.

I today bought a second hand Garmin Nuvi off eBay. Emailed Garmin and they immediately de-registered it - no proof of purchase required.

Same here, bought a second hand unit from someone of this parish. Phoned Garmin , and they re registered it straight away. Didn't ask for proof of anything!

Cheers for all replies, ive emailed previous owner & Garmin asking for them to de-register it so hopefully i'll be resolved.
