Navigator IV + Multi-Controller (wheel thing)

I'm having too much fun riding this fantastic motorcycle to worry about sat nav wheels and blah blah blah:D:beerjug:

Please do let us (me) know if you track down the issue and find a solution. I do like some music if I find myself with a m'way trip to do

Picked up on ADVRider that it is worth trying to use a different and/or faster Micro SD Card, if you have music stored on those. I will try to move the Music files to the main memory of the Nav IV, since I have my maps stored on the card anyway. Perhaps this should do the trick.

Upgraded my iv to the V yesterday, this now gives the Wheel much more purpose.
Turning it zooms in/out and with the V it is fast to react.
Press in it scrolls through menus and holding selects an option.
The biggest difference is that the V is quick to respond and the wheel is now useful.
I do like the screen on the V that shows all the bike info on 1 screen in little boxes.
And yes, I do have a very long drive to get to 104mph top speed!:)

Very nice but dont see the point.
All its doing is repeating the info that you can call up on the bikes screen at the push of a button anyway:blast apart from heading and max speed.

Very nice, quite like that plus the bigger size I might be persuaded away from my trusty 550.

Is that screen configurable at all or is the info (and amount of info ) always displayed like that?

Turning the "wheel" you can make it show 1, 2, 4 or 16 fields. each time you turn the whhel a new screen is shown. You can also configue which information is shown at any screen.

for example, on my "V" I use:

on 1 fiels screen: SPEED

on 2 fiels screen: SPEED + AVERAGE SPEED

on 4 fiels screen: SPEED + AVERAGE SPEED + AND 2 OTHER THAN I DON'T REMEMBER ( My GPS is on the bike and I am away...)

on 16 fiels screen: all teh above + tire pressure, engine temperature and ambient temperature, altitude, GPS precision, etc

Great thanks, will go and take a look at one :thumb2

Can the GPS mount, wiring or wheel be used with a 660? Or
Is everyone just buying the BMW one when they buy a touring.

Yes, a 660 will work in the mount, but the wheel won't work and / or some of the functions / screens on the device won't work.

I've spent A LOT of money on the BMW Navigator IV, is there a software update for this model so I don't have to spend more money?

Thanks Wapping. Is it worth selling the 660 and buying a navigator 5 then for the extra features?

To which you can add you have spent a LOT of money on the awesome WC, too.

In a word: No.

Might there be in the future? Who can tell? If I were to bet, it would be, no. Why would BMW develop a new device, then develop an old device to mimic it? It wouldn't make sense.

How's the polishing coming along?

If YOU (not me or anyone else) values the extra features, clarity of screen and speed of the newer device, over and above:

(A) What your 660 provides you with already, ie. a reasonably good navigation device to get you from A to D via B and C

(B) The price you will have to pay between the cash you receive selling your 660 (there is a market for them) and the cost of a Navigator 5

Then the answer will be yes. If you don't, then it's going to be no. If you are unsure, it's probably no, again. So that's two possible no answers against one yes. Over to you to make a decision.

Thanks, just reading up on them, lots of cool features.
Especially like the high res screen, something I don't like on the 660.

Looks like the 660 will go....

Got my Nav5 , pretty cool, once you get use to it. It gets fitted tomorrow on the bike. I could wire /fit it in myself, but mrs.dxtans has no faith in my incompetency
