I know I could be setting meself ,but ........... I bought a 60/5 ('72) registered '73 'bout a year ago , sold the Africa Twin , F650 Dakar and 1150 Adventure , thought I was ready ! Done about 12 miles in 12 months - not for me . Now I've got a good idea of the price of modern stuff but not on these "classics" , anyway it's got approximatey 48,000 miles on it , sound engine - everything works , some spares , Heinrich fairing and leg shields , so ................ any body give me an idea on price and yes I know it's "how much you think it's worth or the buyer thinks it's worth !" but I just need an idea . Thanks in anticipation panterg

Got any pics? Is it MOT'd, serviced etc, recent rebuild, gear box drive greased recently, History and so on? :nenau Will give a clearer picture of what you're asking.

My initial thought would be:

If it's mot'd but in quite poor overal condition and in need of a good strip and rebuild, then may be £500. If it's recently had a realy thorough rebuild similar to the one Rob has just done with his RS. Then you could be talking upwards of 3K for a really good example with a keen buyer standing there, cash in hand.

Thanks Val .

I would think it falls between the two descriptions , it was owned by a friend for 12-13 years and hardly used , it was re commissioned a year ago when I bought it and the mechanic said it was "sound" , (it will be re MOT'd before I sell and it's tax exempt - letter of authentification from BMW ) , I bought the fairing and leg shields after . I can't post pics (since I changed my camera) but the body work is undamaged but needs paint + striping , some slight surface rust and some powdering on the alloy , not much service history , 90% original ( I, think)
I hope this info helps .Regards panterg

£3k!!!

Have you ridden one? I'm not surprised panterg's decided they're not his thing. Keys just say they're an "enthusiasts machine" ;)

I'd just be looking to get my money back and chalk it down to experience.

Surely if you bought it only a year ago you must remember what you paid for it? Add on the value of the extras you bought and adjust for any improvement and/or deterioration. Airhead prices haven't moved greatly in 12 months.

As Rob said, if you come away with buying and selling a bike without losing too much then thats not a bad result.

Fair point Crapaud , but I was'nt sure if I bought a "bargain" or a "pup" ! I guess the best way to "test the water" is to bang it on Flea-Bay at a "Buy-it- Now or Best Offer" and see what happens , appreciate the thoughts and comments . cheers panterg
