I am running the sound and music in our village Variety Show where I have music and sound effects running on Windows Media Player.

I have a problem fading music out. On Windows Media Player the volume is set between 1 and 100, in this case the volume setting is 10 to avoid deaffening the audience. I need to fade from 10 to 0 but the slightest movement of the mouse has a big impact on the volume and I can't fade out smoothly.

Can anyone suggest an alternative media player which allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the volume control ?

Thanks

Just mentioning in case you haven't done this, it may be worth checking the Windows master volume, in the sound applet. If it's maxed out, then even a tiny tweak of the Media Player volume will mean a big change in output from the PC.

If you drop the Windows master volume to about 25-30%, then the Media Player volume control is much less sensitive, and you can use more of its range, giving smoother fades.
