Hello,

About to update the Nav V with updated EU maps, does not look like I have enough space left... 10MB !.
So best pop out and get a sd card, what size would I need to get put the full EU map on the sd, 32/64 GB.

thanks

Cards are so cheap these days you might as well go for the largest capacity that the unit will actually deal with :thumb2

I talk bollocks

The Navigator V is available in two different packages. What is the difference between them?
The Navigator V is available in two different product packages, which differ according to whether the Cradle mount is included. The version for the navigation preparation mount does not include the 4-button Cradle mount, since it is already fitted to the motorcycle ex works.

Is it possible to extend the memory in the BMW Motorrad Navigator V?
Yes. The unit is fitted with a microSD slot for cards of up to 64GB (SDXC card). This memory can be used both for additional cards and for storing MP3s. Please ensure that SD cards are FAT32 formatted. The exFAT format is not supported.

What is the maximum size of memory card that can be used with the BMW Motorrad Navigator V?

Can I purchase additional cards that are not included in the BMW Motorrad Navigator product package?
Yes, all cards available from Garmin or for use with Garmin equipment can also be used with the Navigator V. Additional cards can be obtained either from BMW Motorrad or from Garmin. An overview of available map material is available from Garmin at

The Nav V has 16gb of built in memory. I don't understand how the unit can not have enough capacity.
When plugged into my PC it shows "400MB free of 7.03GB" so I'm not sure if they do all have 16GB.

That's after deleting unwanted voices, vehicles, copy of basecamp and the manual that it comes with out of the box

You only need the first three entries max. I've done it a number of times and it works fine. I don't even bother with making a backup anymore.:D

The 590 has 16 the Nav V has only 8 or 4, From BMW site, 8 GB internal flash memory (4 GB for equipment without preinstalled maps).

So purchased a 64gb card ( bit off an overkill). Formatted it to fat32. Gamin Updater saw card no probs. Maps got installed onto card and PC,( full EU). Took about an hour to complete.

Has it left the old map on the device?
Shown in map settings.

I have the Nav V and plugged it into my laptop the other day to run some updates, it said the memory is nearly full.

I'm right in thinking you can't add a Micro SD card to the Nav V ? I had a brief look around it and could see no card slot which is a bit disappointing on a unit costing this much
