Whereabouts in Aberdeenshire? I know a couple of us use John Landale in Huntly Motorcycles

Many thanx for prompt reply. I am in New Deer so not too far to Huntly. Will give him a go. Have been to Camerons before but he didn't do me much good over and above oil and filters. Many thanx again..

Craig, the mechanic at JC's Aberdeen is very good though. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for somebody that knows what they are doing....you get what you pay for:thumb

Yep, you're right about Craig being good but still costs me over a grand every time it goes in and on a bike thats fairly well looked after and coming up 6 years old its just too much of a yearly outlay (messing with my yearly alpine touring fund).

Not that I'd want to reduce John Clark's profits at all but have you asked Craig if he happens to do homers....? :augie

£1000 every visit?

My 2006, GS1200 was at most - £350 each year, at Motorrad Central, Dalkeith.

You're not including tyre fitting or brake disc supply in those figures, are you? :nenau

Al :)

A grand for a service? You're having a laugh surely?

As they say, "a fool and his money etc..." :blast

Stuart at Ecosse (McGowans to us old buggers) is a BMW trained mechanic from the days when he was with Shirlaws.

I have been putting both my GSA and my Mamola Rep to him for the past few years - just ensure it is him that does the work.....

How many times a year do you take your bike in for a service:eek::eek:
Craig at JC's has been BMW's mechanic of the year a few times. I've always taken my 1150 to JC's for its 'official' service but do the filters and lubes myself inbetween to get the stamp and spot anything I didn't (or wouldn't:D). When ever I pick it up they tend to have a list of suggested work that needs doing and I have yet to accept the said work as I can do it myself or I dont think it needs doing. One example was the adjuster screw on the throtlle body had siezed in place and it was about £300 to unsieze and replace it which was ludicrous. I got home, soaked it in plus gas and freed it off myself, that was about 3 years ago and its stilll fine. It was probably siezed at the perfect setting anyway:D

The guy Bhud suggests is legendry around Aberdeen but from what I understand you get a certificate if you manage to pin him down.....I've taken a note of that number myself:P

Aberdeen Service

You pay for what you get:rob I used Camerons, paid £ 150 to clean my fuel injectors and balance the throttle bodys ,still ran like crap so I took it to Craig at Clarks - he put right what they got wrong for another £150 . I agree with the others in that he knows his stuff ( apparently one of only two " master technitions in the UK " :bow) Most I've paid at Clarks was £350 for a big service (1200GSA) Camerons is great for MOT's, worth the money just to look at the scaffolding roof in their old building !

It'd be a bit of a trek, but might be worth considering a trundle down to Adventure Bike Warehouse in Manchester? You wouldn't be their longest travelling customer, this much I do know, and the service is second to none!

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Been away a lot (forces) so always had everything done (including suggested w ork) by Craig as just had no time. Civvy now so looking to save a few quid. Never had brakes or tyres from jc. Bike going ok but always seems something drastically about to go wrong when jc had it. Using it for a 70 mile daily commute now and once a year over alps so want it well looked after for less (if u know what I mean).

I have used motoradd both the glasgow and the dalkeith branch for service work and it has never gotten to even 50% of the £ you ars describing defo time for a change
