Need new battery for 2005 R1150GSA

You have probably got a gel battery fitted as standard.

If you deviate and go for a lead acid battery. Just remember to fit a battery drain/spill tube, so that if you drop the bike, any acid spilled, will be collected and drain over board.

Motobatt

I have had an Odyssey fitted to the 1150 for last 7 years & no problems - but I have Motobatt's fitted to 2 other bikes & prefer them I think - far better terminal options for example & even if my Cagiva Raptor 1000 has not been started for months it cranks it over no probs - and that's no easy task!
Check Motobatt prices online - including Ebay, I bought the Motobatt for another bike through Ebay for a crackin' price:thumb

A Westco from Tanya batteries. Great cranking power, leads fit straight on.

same here, seems to do the job well,

aren't the Motobatt ones the wrong size to fit the 1150, I thought they were a bit big to fit in the cage

Hi

I having been pondering a new battery for my 1100 the current one has been on the bike for the last 7 years and is getting a bit tired.

I was going to order an oddessey from Motorworks but then saw this thread

Anyone installed a Motobatt in the 1100 what sort of service have you had!!, is it a direct fit without any farting around this is one thing that puts me of the oddessey , with the terminals needing modification. If the oddessey is the better battery I do not mind but if they are equal in function why bother.

I haven't fitted a Motobatt to an 1100 but I shouldn't think any modifications are necessary. The Motobatt has four terminals, one at each corner so it can't go in the wrong way round (unless you fit it upside down :blast:D). It also has brackets to attach to the terminals so the fixing point can be orienteered any way you want it to be. I'm sure someone will be along who has fitted one but I HTH in the meantime. :thumb2

looks like the same sort of screw down terminals as the motobatt :)

cheap as chips let us know how it goes:)

It started really well, lots of cranking power.
I will let you know after a while if it is still ok.
