I've been watching this 2000 BMW R1150GS silver (located in bedford) on ebay for a while now, but it's getting close to the end of auction and i'm getting less confident about it. I've read alot about dodgy bikes on ebay on this site and wanted to check just incase this was known as a dodgy bike to anyone. Hopefully the reserve is on the cheap side as i'm poor and desperately bikeless!

Hello mate,

If he is a genuine seller then he would welcome you to come and view the bike.

Whats his feedback like :nenau someone with 100 sales and a 100% positive feedback has more than proved himself as a genuine ebayer.

Send him a message and say you want to view the bike before placing a bid. If he says no then steer well clear.

Post the item number up and I will have a look and let you know what I think.

The item number is 220035020408 , I would ask to go and see it but has only 6 hours left on it now! Seems all above board as far as I can tell, just wanted to check if anyone knew it to be a scam or spotted anything I haven't.

Well I have had a look and the seller has very good feedback and seems a genuine seller.

Depends what his reserve is set at mind :nenau

To give you an idea I sold my 1150 the other day and it was a 2001 with 35k and crash bars side panels immobiliser and a pair of aluminium side panniers for £4500. My bike was in exceptional condition so don't pay any more than £4k for this bike.

personally I would always want to see it in the flesh and ride it before parting with this sort of money.

If it doesn't make the reserve then contact the seller and ask him what the reserve is and if its in budget then go and have a look.

Tell him your local etc.

excellent, thanks Jon. looks like i missed THE bargain on the for sale and wanted with fcasado's 1150, :( ....hopefully the bargain bike of my dreams will land in my lap soon. If that one on ebay is over £3500 i'll have to let it go (yeah i'm optomistic, i know, but I can dream can't I?) :mmmm

Hi Tosa.
In my opinion the Bike is GenuineAuction:) :rob
Being able to contact by a phone number not just Yahoo or Juno emails
i'm always looking for dodgy ones:) check my posts.
Never send any form of western union or Bank draft ,always pay when you get there, and AFTER you have checked all numbers against V5 and HPI'd it. 2 min phone call to AA.

:beerjug: Thanks for your help, the auction's over but it didn't break the reserve limit, which was £4500! He said he won't accept anything less because he'll easily get that for it in the spring. No way i'm paying that! So, the search continues. :hide nope, no 1100's behind here...

feel i must point out that i know i was looking at a 1150, but i'm really after an 1100, before anyone says anything :nono ...I'm sure if you hold fire i'll make a much better opportunity to laugh at me as time goes by.

Have you tried both the 1100 and the 1150?! They are different, I have both at the moment..........

Haven't tried an 1150, i assumed it would be pretty much the same it was just that the low(ish) price attracted me to a couple of 1150's recently. It is mainly a cost driven thing, I know I want a GS 1100 and thought an 1150 would do aswell, but whichever one I find for the right price first is the one i'll probably get... But please tell me what the main day to day difference would be in owning either bike (or both if you should be so lucky! ) I think you just wanted to rub it in, while I drive my clapped out fiesta :rob

Have a look here

Just been posted and not a million miles away from your budget.

I get the immpression that the 1100's have a much better build quality than the 1150's. Looking at the bike above it is in excellent condition.

Ok, he's dropped the price and now i'm definately interested, will snatch it up, but can't message him! Can someone tell him that i want his bike!? Need it more like.... Help me please! :( :(

ooops, was so eager I didn't say it's the bike Blues n twos left a link to, for sale from Spanners on the for sale and wanted section.

It's all sorted now mate, many thanks though :beerjug: you're a hero :bow I had to become a sponsor to get in contact, was only concerned about giving credit card details, but as it turns out they accept PayPal so it's all worked out for me. :clap , Thanks again :D ...I'm on my way to the world of two wheels again!!!

Great stuff,

Hope it all works out for you and as your up the road we will have to burn some rubber sometime :beerjug:

Jon :)

remember with ebay if you win an item and its not as listed you can walk away.the worst the seller can do is give neg feedback.then file a complaint against seller and get it withdrawn.you dont need to buy crap.always buy from a seller with high feedback. :thumb
