Need some help to change the bevel pinion seal.

Hello

Need some help to change the bevel pinion seal.

Do I need to disassemble the whole unit to remove the seal? Or if I remove the pinion nut and the threaded ring I change the seal?

Is there any trick to remove the threaded ring without BMW 33 1700 ?

Is there any trick to remove the pinion nut?

I think you need special tools to undo the collar nut and it will be torqued to something ridicilious so you will need a fair amount of effort to get it loose. I found it much less painless to take the beveldrive complete into BMW and they replaced the seal for hour's labour + the cost of the seals

There might be someone on here who has done this before and give some tips.

I had mine replaced ( I got the number off Motorworks ) and the guy found that someone had already been in there and had actually cracked the threaded ring !!
Postage was as much as the repair !
