Need some technical assistance

Glad you're home safe and sound :thumb2:thumb2

I know she's in great hands and you have the mechanical knowledge :comfort to keep her running sweet :rob:rob
I'll still take Whisky Victor off your hands anytime you want Kevan.

One slight correction, "Our wine :D"

Great post Kevan and pleased you made it back OK.:)

It was a fun few days and I really enjoyed it although I could have done without the hangover at the weekend.:comfort

I hope you make it back down here in June for the Wee-kend.

Been following this thread with great interest, well done, great write up though I'm not too sure about the link between the BMW and a Lancaster bomber.:blast
Hope ypu get to the Weekend, looking like there will be some awsome airhesds there this year.

MMMMM not quite 100%
I'd suspect it's going to need a rebuild on the engine soon, they don't normally have a feck off breather[ shitty at that] all the way to the back wheel unless there worried about oil dumping on rear tyre..
Air cleaner is wrong as 60/2's don't have the strangler cased...

Still a nice bike tho',Wonder what the reserve is ??

Thought that a little (by my standards) update on Whisky Victor was in order.

I've added almost 3,000 miles to the odometer in 13 months. It sailed through it's MOT with one advisory. The idiot owner that checked it prior to testing failed to look at the rear tyre which was just legal. It has a nice new Heidenau fitted now.

It also has a second batch of fresh oil in the engine, Millers non-detergent straight 30 of which I bought 25 litres from Opie when it was on offer.

The fuel tank has had a POR15 treatment and there isn't any more rubbish accumulating in the filters. That hadn't stopped the carb's from frequently going out of balance and the tick-over messing about big time so I started to dig around in the air system.

First I could do with a new filter, should collect that this afternoon. What I discovered below that though beggars belief and I can't imagine what the culprit was thinking of. It's obvious that Keith & Sid didn't remove the air filter (they had no reason to do so) as when I did I discovered that someone had carefully rolled some psychedelic plasticine and carefully formed it into rings which they had placed around the ends of the intake manifolds inside the engine casting. The culprit must have thought that the rubber sealing rings fitted at the factory could be improved upon:D After many years the plasticine was going hard and small pieces were breaking off and getting drawn into the carb's. After a through removal and cleaning process it was all re-assembled and the carb's set up from scratch. The tickover was good previously, now it is amazing. Once the engine is hot it ticks over so slowly I'm constantly convinced it's going to stall, but it doesn't. I'll try and post a video.

Other issues in 13 months?

I think that the indicators flash too quickly, I need to look into that.
I've broken half the pad off the side stand when it hit the road on a corner or ten.
The nicely square cut wally flaps are now chamfered at 45 degrees both sides. On the right there is a danger that I'll get the engine bars down although I'm a bit worried about the front tyre which may be 20 years old. It still seems to grip OK though. Is there a way to identify the year of the tyre from the markings on it?
The tank for the centre stand looks as though it's been on a diet, it's getting thinner in the middle due to an ongoing love affair with the road surface.
It doesn't seem to be any faster than the factory claimed.
I feel daft hanging off the side of a 43 years old motorcycle to get it around corners without scraping even more of it away:D Just not daft enough to slow down.
