Need stable mate for GS1200

GS1200 is an amazing bike lets be right about it! I know it has had problems with FPC and FD but over all it is f~~king good. Does everything goes anywhere carries most things.

However I fancy something else as well either
A. Fast superbike
B. Something to repair and do up, maybe a chopper or cruiser.

GS is alittle advanced and bullet proof to do much spannering on.

Any ideas?

Not planning on spending a fortune

i got a dzr, and get all my kicks where the coppers arnt
however, i might swap it for a chop project if one arrises
 
Blackbird 1200 a an alround hyper bike

and how about a HD Vrod as a chopper? Both good value...
 
I run a ZZR600 with Nitrous.

But would like a Suzuki GS500 to strip and fully sort with suspension from an RGV or GSXR400.

Or the upcoming KTM RC4 :augie :augie
 
I've just bought a Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird and I haven't stopped grinning like an idiot since I got home yesterday :D

I looked at quite a few and this one was too good to pass up. There are plenty about with prices from £1k up to £6k and accessories are easily available. I'll probably fit a different screen, wire in my GPS and fit a tank protector but that's it.

I had an '05 'Bird for a year but found I was riding everywhere at 90++++ Nothing stupid just the natural gait of the bike and not really any fun for the relative risk to ones licence.

The bars were too low (swapped for VFR units but still not quite right) for lower speed work to be comfy. Also the legendary Honda build quality ain't what it used to be or at least I wasn't overly impressed. (Soft paint, misrouted breathers staining the fairing, fragile plastics, safety recall for brake fault......
 
Sorry if the above seems negative, I wasn't trying to pee on your parade just reflecting on my experiences. I think it was one of those bikes I really, really wanted but found when I finally got one found it wasn't quite for me.....

On the plus side they look great and make awesome fast sports tourers. I put three givi boxes on mine and did a lot of happy miles with the missus on the back. I never understand why people rave about VFRs (yes had a couple of those too) when you can have a blackbird:thumb

Blackbirds are top bikes. cant get the vfr bug when you can get a black instead....
 
How much you looking to spend?
Maybe one of these. I have a 2008 GSA and one of these.

If you're on a bit of a budget how about one of these? VFR versatility. Italian soul.... (Pretty reliable too!)

Buy a Harley, it's the best antidote you'll find to GS overload. Mine doesn't handle, doesn't stop, goes like hell and needs a clean every day. I love it :clap
 
This is what keeps my GS company.

Similar riding position (ish) but a load more grunt, character, and grin factor.

Suprisingly comfortable too, if you go for an old shape version like I did.

Hell of a lot of bike for not a lot of money (but don't tell anyone) :nono

I found myself in the same quandry, so I went for a 2004 Ducati 999, resulting in silly perma-grin!!!
 
have you thought about an old british bike?easy to work on and a good spares back up for most makes and models.you can tinker till your hearts content and get some involvement from the bike ?? trophy tr6:rob
 
her is the ideal complement to my R1200GS - which is perfect for 2 up and traveling but for mountain pass hunting the MM is just unbelievable!
