Hi all,
Only had the new LC a week and already need your combined wisdom and guidance.
firstly i would like to say the bike is awesome and is everything I expected it to be.
My good lady though is struggling with the fact there is no fore and aft adjustment on the vario top box, I have put the passenger seat in its fully forward position , took off the large back rest but it is still not comfortable for , maybe if I could move the whole top box back an inch or two this would solve the problem ? Any ideas, other than her getting her own bike or taking box off all together lol

Regards Andy

I have a GIVI Tre (large one ) , that comes back a bit.

Hi Zoltan,
I had a Kawasaki GTR 1400 up until last week with the full factory fit luggage which was made by Givi and I was able to adjust the base plate back a bit on that and it was fine.
Bought the new bike with all the vario luggage didn't realise I would have the same problem and unfortunately no adjustment! Reluctant to spend a load more money changing the top box( I do like the vario system and it really suits the bike).
But I suppose I may have to if cant find a way of moving rear rack.
Givi trekker top box looks like it may work with the monokey base! Will have to investigate further.
Thanks for your feedback.
Regards Andy

Have exactly the same issue, wife complained about backrest.
Hopefully she`ll adapt as I removed the padding from the top backest and re-padded with a softer foam.
Failing that may have to look at givi options.

Take it to someone like Mark Hooton or Vern, or any friendly metal fabricator, and they will almost certainly be able to make up a 5mm thick ally sheet plate with a set of holes further back to re-mount the vario.

Obviously moving things backwards will lighten your front wheel load a fair bit, but it ought to be possible :thumb2

This is what I did with the top box, but made my own adaptor plate:thumb2

Worked a treat....

Did the same on my Lebbenfiddy......a lump of old plate, an angle grinder and a few other power tools and it's easy enough :thumb

Just get rid of the wife !. win/win situation, no nagging from the rear AND more room for you.
:D:D

Hi Tony
Cheers for that, glad its not just me. Lol
Think re padding the back rest could well be my next plan of attack cheers.

Andy, post up a couple of piccies of the rack area, the mounting points and so on, and there are a good number of peeps here who will be quite happy to knock up a tech drawing or at least throw some ideas or hints at the problem :thumb2

Part of the GS culture (seems to me anyway :nenau) is to adapt to overcome.......home fabbed plates can (if done well) look every bit as smart as an OEM item, and these bikes are MEANT to be modded to make them perfect :clap

Had the same issues not enough room (there's less room on the new gs than the 2010 version) I eventually made a template & asked a very nice man (Mark Hooton) to make one,

Works a treat, looks good too.

Wow

Wow - I didn't realise I was lucky enough to be the one to help

Dead chuffed I might have helped and please call me if I can help in any way further - and ffs if what I've done isn't spot on then please give me the chance to put it right mate

Hi Fanum,
I am a newbie to these forums and haven't got a clue how to upload piccies at the moment

Hi Mark.
Any help would be very much appreciated, even if just a piccie or an idea. Would like to get this issue sorted sooner rather than later :) and would expect to cover any costs incurred .:thumby:
