Hi all, alarm fob stopped working for my '03 1150GS recently, new batteries didn't help. Thankfully this happened at home and not on a recent traffic-dodging foray Christmas shopping. Have found where the alarm brain lives and stripped off the insulating tape and can see where the alarm loom has been spliced into the bike's loom.
There is no LED evident, so can't override, tho can see two spare wires (black and black & red) which I suspect are for the LED. I think it's a Meta 357 alarm.

Am considering two courses of action:

1. Get a new alarm and just plug it in to the old one's loom

2. Toss the old alarm and perform a loom-ectomy, since I suspect the alarm is
Running down the battery when I don't use the bike for a while.

Has anyone any experience doing wither of the above? Or any contacts whom might be able to help?

My mate had the same alarm on his Aprillia Falco and that died again put new batteries in it went through the programming sequence that didn't work so we found the alarm i cut all the tails to the alarm to remove it. Then took each cable out 1 at a time and soldered and sleeve the original cable. Then just had to put a paper clip in the bikes alarm power supply connection block to get it to start. As soon as the alarm was removed (cut) the bike would turn over but it would activate the fuel pump until i put the paper clip in the loom power supply. Took less than an hour from start to finish

Job done!

Despite an alarm guy offering to do the job for €90, I bit the bullet today and did it myself.
Fairly straightforward: most of the wires were splices (power, earth, indicators front and rear etc.), only had to cut and rejoin two wires, which I think were starter and ignition/kill switch.

Music to my ears to hear her start!

Thanks for your help, K
