Hi all

I'm in a need to repair or fill with some putty the mounting bit where the bolts for the cylinder protectors go and also bend back into shape the protectors. I dropped the bike and the BMW protectors just damaged the cylinder head and shattered the mounting bits on the engine instead of protect:blast.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm based in Berkshire.

Hi Roberto,
have you got any pictures of the damage so we can see what we're dealing with?

Hi Brassmonkey,

Thanks for your reply-Unfortunately I don't have any pic, possibly I'll take some on the weekend to show more clearly the damage:mad:

Cheers,
Roberto

if u find you do need putty , i will send you some industrial stuff, jus pm me, weldin would be better though

Hi Digger

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if you can weld it or I assume that it has to with a special one? I bought some quicksteel to see it'll work?. I PM regarding the industrial stuff that you have.

Cheers,
Roberto

If it's only the protector mounting bolt holes, I'd be inclined to get it welded / tapped. It might not be the strongest of welds (I'm not sure how weldable the alloy is), but it'd be a better job than epoxy putty.

I have just returned from a big trip and I had an accident and damaged the mountings on the head side where my rocker cover was holed and moved which caused two bolts to sheer off in the head and damage the raised threaded section. Did you manage to get it fixed and if so where and how much? Did you have any photos to post of the original damage?

Cheers

Baz
