Guys,
My bike isn't home and need to buy a wooden gate tomorrow for the back garden. Anyone know the widest part of a 1150gs with standard tour panniers so I am sure I get a gate that I can get the bike in.
Thanks to anyone who can offer a bit of 'measured ' help
I seem to think the widest part is the mirrors and they are a bit wider than the plastic BMW panniers ? But I can be sure
Cheers

Mirrors won't be the issue. You can turn the bars by a few degrees going through. The issue will be engine bars if they are BMW adventure ones. I had to cut a small piece (matchbox size) from the frame to allow my Adventure into my side entrance.

Just checked mine as best I could, given that it's difficult to get an accurate measurement as the system pannier's widest point is halfway along. I reckon 95cm is the widest point which is the panniers. The bars are slightly narrower and my engine bars (Hepco and Becker) as slight narrower still at around 85-90cm.

Don't rely on those for exact measurements, just a guide! I'm not going to be blamed if it doesn't fit :D

Cheers for the help guys, based on the 95cm. I will shop for a gate that's at least 1 m in width and that should allow me to get it in with the panniers on.

As usual the help is very much appreciated.
Ride safe.
John
