Negative Aspects from First Rides

I'm pretty sure that Alun's accident was connected to the Kevin Ash accident - which is still being investigated by the SA police - so it's probably legal issues that are keeping things quiet on that front.

thats about the strength of it.

I haven't read Bike magazine for years but they tend to favour KTM over the GS (suspect this is driven by advertising) so it comes as no surprise.

If you experience a tank slapper off road is it the fault of the bike or the rider - or maybe just an unfortunate set of circumstances ?

If it happens on road it's another matter.

:blast...............

Surely these bikes are ridden by experienced BMW test riders before they are put into full production?

Good to see some positive feedback indeed.

I'm sure it'll be a cracking bike. I recall getting off of my R1100S on to the new 1200GS and thinking wow.. This is in a different league.

There are a few folks having fun with some of the posts, nothing new in that round here. Also though, I'd suppose there is also a community of bitter twits out there who can't afford a shiny new one and are green with envy at the upcoming launch of the WC, making their 'old' 1200 not the shiniest gizmo in the village.. so bring on the phoney war. A bit sad, that.

I'll be looking to some of the recognised folks on here for their feedback once they get their hands on the new 'un.. Don't forget now..

I'll let you know if mine wobbles when I pick it up at the weekend :D I didn't go for all that fancy new suspension stuff with a gazillion settings so mine will probably be a bit more stable and more reliable than those with all the toys ;)

If I was getting one, it would be the basic version too

Just a bike and heated grips, plus the mandatory ABS now

I like the look of the Enduro one best

I just went for the most basic one I could get + heated grips - I prefer simplicity - working in the electronics and embedded software world I am all too aware of how complicated technology can get, so I prefer to keeps things as simple as possible!

Just been fortunate enough to have spent the day riding about 200k around Morrocco on the new bike along with umpteen others. I've done plenty of offroad with my 2007GS but riding the new one with gizmos allowed it to make mincemeat of situations that I'd have struggled with on mine. The "A" team we certainly pushing the bikes to the limits and no one encountered any worrying behaviour. If you like the old one I reckon you're gonna love this.

Lucky you :thumb2

You know it's what makes the world go around Chris :beerjug:

Let's face it....read the report in MCN on the new GS and its great. :D

When was the last time MCN really panned a bike? Nothing to do with their advertising revenues obviously...

For the avoidance of doubt - I'm sure that the new LC is genuinely a great bike. I'm just not sure that MCN is very critical when it comes to road tests.
