Neil Peart's Motorcycle for auction

Was aforementioned Neil famous or sumfink? 🤷🏻‍♂️

The starting bid of between 40k/50k seems very steep for a high-mileage un-restored bike to me, irrespective of who used to own it.

I guess that I'm not very sentimental !
Dito.

I don’t meant to be rude, however it is a scabby looking thing. Just another red tractor in my eyes.
Just because it was owned by some bloke (whom I’ve never heard of), doesn’t make it in my view a valuable piece of motorcycle history, demanding eye watering sums of 💰

No idea mate!
Never heard of him or the band. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Must be a generational thing.
Will have to ask Spotify to play it for me.

Yeah, they were popular with the heavy rock fans in the late 70s and early 80s, before the term heavy metal was coined

Their bassist Geddy Lee is something of a legend, his voice is what you could call unusual too

My favourite band of all time and Neil "The Professor" Peart, was probably the finest drummer (and lyric writer) of his generation.

Sad back-story to his later life, with both his daughter and wife passing a few months apart, then he succumbed to brain cancer. He used to ride his GS between cities when they were on tour.
I took 21 other GSers to their last UK date at the O2 a few years ago.

he wrote a nice book about his travels and life. I got it as a gift but not read it yet....
Far and Wide was the one I have but apparently he wrote several......

It looks ok but the estimate is very high. The mileage is not mentioned well it is but not stated which is probably not that important but it suggests that whoever wrote the piece doesn’t know or is holding back. It would be interesting to see how much it makes. Personally I don’t think its previous owner makes it worth anything like what they’re saying. JJH

Saw them in 2004 at the NEC....:clap

Rush are indeed an acquired taste. My older brother was a huge fan back in the day, me not so much. But I have grown to appreciate their music, lyrics and talent. Neil Peart is considered by drummers to be one of the most talented drummers of all time, outshining the other band members who are also held in high esteem.

Correct a big band back in the day (despite there only being three of them) and very very LOUD :D

Far and Away
Far and Wide
Far and Near
Ghost Rider was the tough read following his “recovery” after the passing of his daughter and then wife.
He also wrote one about cycling through Africa - The Masked Rider.
He was a very talented man, and sadly missed by many folk, including me.
