Howdy folks

Hoping someone on here can shed some light onto a problem 1200gsa i have here, took it into my place a few weeks ago with a running problem, needed to throttle at about 3k to keep it running, wont idle, so changed over normal culprits, idle actuators, fuel sender, coils, diagnostics was showing up nothing so i then swapped over throttle pot, running perfect, so sent customer off, 3 days later, it comes back with exact same problem, then, i take throttle pot off it and fit to another GS and the problems transfers with pot, so something appears to be blowing the throttle pot, all i can think is the BMSK control unit?

Just wanted to check if anyone on here has seen such a problem?

Any info is appreciated

Regards

GSA Problem

Had this same problem on my GSA 09. It started suddenly as I throttled off and just died. Could only restart with the throttle nearly wide open and stuggled home keeping it as you say above 3,000 revs.
Pidcocks in Long Eaton replaced the Throttle Pot and after another 6,000 miles glad to say it has run great.
Hope you find the solution.
Cheers

Uncommon problem

Hi,
U might just be unlucky & have a faulty replacement new part.

Throttle pots can be damaged by Overloading the circuit, more than likely the signal wire intermittently going to ground or short circuiting or a bad earth point on main frame to battery connection.
Very hard to locate as it may just be where the wiring is stretched tight around a component or a clip on the frame. I suggest a good look & wiggle & jiggle the loom, u may get lucky.
If you have a good multimeter & or a lab scope u may want to test the continuity of the signal whilst on 3/4 throttle at or near where it enters the ECU.
It may be worth asking the BMW dealership for advice on previous concerns or factory bulletins as sometimes the reworks dont all get carried out if the bike doesn't return to the dealers during it's early life.

Soz it's a bit long winded but I waited a day to see if anyone else commented first.

Good luck with a very rare problem. Hope this helps.
Phil

Even a humble GS911 diagnostic tools shows analog inputs such as throttle pot values from 0-100% ??
