Have just committed to buy a new Adventure and very much looking forward to getting my hands on it.
I currently have a pair of Givi Trekker 33's on my Triumph Explorer on SW Motech frames. I was thinking of putting these panniers on the KTM but it looks to me like it will make it very wide - the other alternative is the KTM boxes which should be narrower & neater.
I also have a givi trekker 42 top box which I am thinking of using instead of the ktm box..
I have seen the Holan panniers which look to be a great choice but I don't use panniers very often so I really don't want to spend that much cash.
Any advice or pros & cons of these options would be appreciated.

I cant really comment on your set up. I had the ktm power oarts 45l zegapro touratech panniers and top box which were on my 990.

The top box fitted the 1190r after buying the adapter plate.

I'm now faced with a similar dilema with the panniers . The exhaust is mounted in such avway similar to the gs which means the right hand pannier stands proud of the exhaust. The touratech solution is to have a 42l on the left and the narrower 38l on the right.

So far i have devided not to fit the pannier rails and stick with the top box only. The tank bag from my 990 also fits the 1190, that gives me additional space if needed.

I have the Holan panniers as I am not fussy on the KTM oe ones. The Katoom ones are cheaper, quick to mount/detach but (IMO) are fugly. However, they sound like the best option for you from what you say.

Your Holan panniers do look & fit well and I like the Wings exhaust very much - do you mind if I ask how much the exhaust is?
Like you, I have a certain OCD about panniers - I do not like the assymetrical style at all. At least with my Trekkers & SW Motech frames they look well balanced and looked OK on the Explorer. However because of the KTM exhaust I think they will be much too wide for my liking (and safe filtering).
Because I do not anticipate using them much I think it may be the most sensible option to go for the KTM touring kit, although they are not particularly attractive. If I thought I was going to use them more I would definitely get the Holans though.

Don't buy the plastic kTm boxes. I have them and they are shite. Buy a short Wings exhaust and you can then get matching Holan panniers, 2 x 31 / 38 or or 2 x 45 litre boxes. Pics here:

If you don't want the cost of wings + nolan panniers and are set on the kTm panniers, you can have mine at a price that suits you.

Shay, I won't have the bike for a couple of weeks yet, but from your comments and others I have read, it seems the KTM boxes are not too special, is the KTM top box equally bad?
When I have got the bike I intend to offer up my Givi Trekkers to see just how wide they will be, but I don't expect to be happy with them.
If I decide to go with the KTM's I will get in touch with you.
Thanks for the advice.

Honestly, they are terrible. I would recommend a Givi top box instead of the kTm. I had a givi v46 for years and it never leaked, and I used to pack it to the gills. The kTm top box leaks and the locks are very fiddly. It is convenient having one key for all 3 boxes and the ignition but i would not pay full price for them.

I haven't been away for longer than a weekend but I used a dry bag to carry all my stuff. I found it very convenient, one bag to carry into hotel at night and very secure with 2 rok straps.

ymmv.

I've got Trekker boxes on my 1190R. Using the SW Motech quick lock mounts 33 ltr box on right and 46 ltr on the left, the overall width is 1mtr. It is wide but 10cm either side of the handlebars is manageable and with the 52 ltr Trekker top box I've got some serious capacity. Having all the Trekker boxes gives me some choice as all can be used as a top box. I'll probably only use thee full kit for 3 weeks per year.

Thanks to all for the advice.
I think I will give the KTM kit a miss. Will see how the Givi's are going to look using SW Motech frames, as similar to Paule I will only use full luggage infrequently, and can use Givi top box and softbag on the pillion seat to rest of the time. If this does not work the Holan's look the best option.
The Wings short exhaust does look tempting though:bounce1 as I believe this would work with the Holan Remus type frames.

Yes, the Wings shortie will work with the Remus Holan frames. My standard length Wings was a mere 2 cms too long to fit the Remus versions.

If Anyone wants to fit the KTM panniers I have a set brand new in boxes never fitted, and would be open to offers, currently they are in the South of France but that could be changed to suit. :thumby
