Really if you, did take the time to troll, you'd see what I mean. I don't know how many of us have a 12, but I would conservatively estimate, at least a third. Therefore, I'm confident, that if you took the time to do a bit of research, you would find there are, in actual fact very few with problems, /QUOTE]

Mine took 732 miles to break with what I was told was a common problem, never mind I'm not going to be a bmw owner for much longer.

Was there not a poll that had 20% of respondents reporting serious problems with their bikes?

I'd class "very few" as being something of the order of 1-2%. I'd class 20% (If I have remembered the numbers right) as being quite bad.

Ahh Northernboy.

The poll you quote was for problems that needed the BMW computer to repair a bike after being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

One of the things that came out of this was that many owners didn't read the handbook and so didn't understand the bike.

As I remember your contribution to the poll was a breakdown of the indicator system in London that required BMW assist to take you to the dealers - I believe you played the safety card on this.

I regard that as a distortion of that particular poll and no doubt there were other contributors who think on the same lines as you adding to the distortion. Not a valid poll

Blimey

Go away for the w/e and come back to all this............ :o

It was, as most people seem to have taken it, meant to be very much 'tongue in cheek' with just a modicum of seriousness behind it. Mostly sparked off by a night of no sleep followed by packing my tent on the bike in the morning and dropping it in a tray of used engine oil, the day just got better after that (not!)

Any way, pleased to announce that at least my trusty GS12 got me all the way from Nottingham to Ripley for the HU meet, a round trip of at least 38 miles :clap :clap :clap ;)

As so often happens in life a tongue in cheek remark starts up a healthy debate. The issues aired in this thread could almost be a summary of the activity in lots of other threads/polls etc. It may well be that some peeps are fed up of the so called ' whingers ', but it is just as likely that some peeps are fed up of hearing about bikes that are completely trouble free. At the risk of sounding a bit pretentious I believe debate such as this is healthy, and long may it continue. There are threads/posts on here that I don't feel relevant to me, so I ignore them. Perhaps more peeps should to the same. To introduce censorship would in my opinion be a retrograde step
