New 2008 Adventure Fuel Tank Inside Holder?

Has any noticed?
The r/h/s of the new 2008 model ADV on the inside section it has like a cut out section which look like its for a bottle or somthing???? It has teo brass screw fasternings eaither side. Any know what goes in their?

Possibly something to do with an option you don't have on the bike - or the location for the carbon canister for the US

I also have a gap on the left side above the air-intake, behind the panels on my GS which contains some plastic clips but nothing attached - no idea what would be there either

It's for some sort of Califonian emissions thing ... not needed in UK so it's just a hole.

You can put your HID ballast there .. wonder how I knew that

Found this thread as I was doing some wandering around the forums as work is boring today

I looked underneath my bike and the same thing exists. The thing is, I have an autocom fitted underneath my seat where the toolkit used to go. It would be a great idea to get the strapping which fits and some sort of waterproof, screwtop container and strap it in there. Then I'll have somewhere to put some tools and other bits and bobs.

Has anyone done this or know where I can get the actual strap that fits the 2 brass holes?

I'm guessing off the top of my head that this wouldn't have any effect on the bike if I did this.

The 'strap' appears to be a bracket part no. 16137711697 if I've interpreted the parts fiches available on the net properly. Described as a Bracket Activated Carbon Container and retailing for about $18.00 if you're in the US - no idea about UK availability.

Fantastic! Exactly what I'm looking to do. What size tubing did you use to fit in there?

Then I'll be off down the plumbers merchants to get an "off-cut sample"

Mate, its 90mm stormwater pipe (pvc) with an end cap. You have to do a bit of sculpting to make it clip in. Add a hole in the bottom of the tube to allow water drainage. I've had mine clipped in for quite a while now with no loss.
