Hi everyone I'm new here.
I've just bought a new ('09) g450x and it comes with 3 large boxes of new BMW spares.
Including; 2 new wheels, complete set of plastics, complete race exhaust, handlebars, clutch and brake levers, brake pads etc. etc. etc. I'm told it's worth £1600, did anyone else get one of these kits with their bike?

Also, I was talking to one of the technical guys in my local dealership (Ocean BMW) today and we were discussing the 2 year warranty that comes with the bike and what would be covered by it. He told me that there is a sensor on the bike that logs whether the bike has been ridden for prolonged periods (10 seconds or more consecutively) at high revs, for instance flat out on the motorway for miles on end. This would invalidate the warranty according to him.
Does anyone know anything about this subject or other limits to the bikes warranty? Personally I'm amazed we get any warrant at all.

Cheers all for any advice. :thumb2

i got the same deal with my bike

ive used everything except the front wheel already!

the warranty is very comprehensive and covers pretty much everything including bearings. every road bike i have owned have not had a warranty anywhere near as good as this.

on that subject make sure you drop the front triple clamp every few hours and repack the lower bearing or it will be shagged in no time.

I have the first bike, but i didnt's came with all that nice spare stuff... to bad...
i bought it myself, but never used it...

What do you mean with the tripple clamps be dropped....and repack...
what do you feel is that bearing is rubbisch.

Steve, the extra kit was an offer supplied with new bikes in the UK towards the end of 2009, so not everyone got one. You'll notice that when you hit about 70mph the display flashes SPEED at you, this is the warning the technician talked about. I think BMW would be very hard pressed to say it invalidates the whole warranty (in fact I know that they don't say this) but they may well use it to evade claims on for damage that could be related to engine speed. I've not seen any posts on here, thumpertalk or ADVRider where that has happened though.

Brommer - there's been cases of water getting into the lower bearing and it rusting, there are a couple of threads on here about it.

Edited to add:
Brommer - this is the bearing thread.
SteveM - Happy new bike! Just to say I'm really pleased with mine but they are high-maintenance and watch out for the self-destructing sidestand!

Welcome Steve....although I'm not sure that you will want to talk to me as I'm originally from Devon and I know how funny you lot get about people from the other side of the Tamar :)

I've had my bike for a week now and getting to know it. Seems like a nice bit of kit so far :thumb2

Cheers
Pete

Ah Totnes, not far from where I'm from, I grew up in Bovey Tracey and went to school in Ashburton.....got married near Ashburton !

I was in Ashburton last weekend. Rode my gs12 across the moors from Tavistock, stopped there for a drink and fuel, then on to Totnes for food by the river (Steampacket Inn), then rode back to Plymouth via Dartmouth, Kingsbridge etc along the south coast. Weather was fantastic, a top day out.
