New 2010 R1200 GS

New 2010 R1200GS

Great bike, got mine in February and have been very impressed with improved low speed running, torque and sound. Its my 6th GS to date. Was able to transfer all my after goodies from my previous GS. End cans for the previous model don't fit, everything else can be easily transferred over.

picked mine up yesterday. Even stopped raining so went for a ride. Standard can sounds much better than in the past. But be interested to see and hear the difference with the Akra can fitted. Mate has an 2009 with full Remus and it sounds like a WWII bomber plane. Fantastic. Been told that a full system on the new model does not improve hp as you lose the valve. And when it is MOT time you get done on emissions as the cat will have been removed with a full system. Anyone meddled about with the pipes on the 2010 yet?

Since when were bikes subjected to emissions tests as part of the MOT test? The MOT test for my old 1150GS in February did not involve an emission test. That machine started life with a CAT which I replaced with a Y piece and it passed MOT tests both with and without the CAT.

Got mine as per my intro post.

It's Blond with Blue Eye's.

Best regards Stretch:)
PS Might even consider becoming a Tosser now!!

Good to know, that is what the BMW salesguy told me. I have never had a bike MOT-ed before so wasn't sure. Will have a look at www.akrapovic.com now.:)

I think that the continued existence of two-stroke bikes complicates the emissions tests. I don't know where that leaves (proud) owners of Trabants!

and for cars? (As you guessed I am not originally from the UK) An emisssions test would kill 70% of the black cabs!

AIUI Black cabs are, like all diesels, subject to emission tests. Someone will surely be along to correct me tho'!
