According to a few of our friends in the USA, and some in Europe, they are taking delivery of their LC GSA's by the end of January. Isn't the launch meant to be March?:nenau

Do they flick a switch and customers bikes start to come off the assembly line or do they do a setting up batch to test the assembly routine? What happens to the test bikes?
I don't think I would like to receive bike No 1 Batch No1.

Its possible the sales of the GSA have exceeded BMWs estimates, and most people will be wanting their bike April/May. As the components are sourced and the assembly line set up to produce 'x' amount per week perhaps they have started manufacture and have limited space for stock so they release them early to the dealers, it may be their job to stock them until March.

They won't be stocking them until March in the US, or mainland Europe, as the bikes are in dealers and being prepped for customer collections before the end of the month.:rob:beerjug:

Typically they will have a pre-production production run to prove the components 'fit' and are acceptable. I remember Land Rover discovered suspension castings had been made to the wrong hand on a 200 unit pre-production build. These pre-production bikes may be scrapped or used by employees.

Once scheduled production starts then bikes are shipped and dealers have to rebuild or fix if not acceptable. Talk to dealers service staff and they often bemoan how some bikes require fixing at their cost.

Hi All

I don't know if this helps, however I'm having my GS shipped down to me in March. So I asked the question this morning, will it be a 2014 spec ?

Hi Greg,

Yes it will, it is going into production next week.

All bikes built since September last year are 2014 spec.

Thinks you may have ya wires crossed ! the above are talking about the adventure version and not the Standard GS

There's 500 new bikes sat in New Jersey, with 250 being shipped to dealers by the end of this week. They're getting quite excited over there.:D Just seems odd that the bike is meant to be launched in the UK in March, yet the US and Europe will be taking delivery before February.:nenau

Dealer launch in Australia is first week in February.:thumb:D

That's really good news, a group of us are going on holiday at the start of May and at first it looked like my mates GSA would not be available in time. The dealer said they had managed to adjust delivery dates with another customer for delivery in late March, we had doubts but it now seems they are being honest.

I ordered mine well before Christmas, actually after the NEC show and I've been given a 'week 18' delivery date which is week starting 5th May. Similar problem, Ill need to get it run in and serviced before Garmisch in July and due to other commitments this will be tight though not impossible. That and I'm losing a month and a half of use from the launch date. I might try again and see if I can bump mine up the schedule though it's being built to my spec and not an off the shelf model.

:robTalked with the dealer and the bikes will be in showrooms on Saturday the 1st, but clients can only pickup the bikes on Monday 3rd.:mad:

Ola Segio,is your dealer the one at Faro? I was in there last year and died at the prices, a standard GS TC was €19,000!!!! :eek
What's the price going to be for a GSA WC?

Hi Wyreflyer, yes its the one in Faro, with cases + akrapovic + nav V - 25.250€

About £21,500, which would cost roughly £18,000 here and that's bad enough! Taxes in Portugal are high though, I know cars and bikes are expensive. Good luck Sergio, at least you get to use yours more of the year than we do in Britain :coold

New GSA

Ordered mine in September, told by dealer I will be lucky to take delivery in March.
Lesson for future, buy overseas.

Ive just ordered mine Today, a White TE GSA and I will collect it the end of April, I work for BMW so mine will come direct to me from the factory, so I skip having to wait for a dealer to be able to get it PDI and set up. and of course a bit of discount, got to have a perk or two havent you.
