Let's face it, it's just a Softail painted to resemble the original Super Glide that Willy designed.
OTOH the newer Softails are pretty good motorcycles, the msrp of $16,000 seems fair, and the commercial promoting it is well done. I like the direction HD is going under Artie.

I like the paint… sure a styling exercise but the soft tails are a sweet platform… wish I hadn’t sold my Low rider S TBH

That's what I've heard from the people I know who've ridden one (I have not). What did you replace it with?

You liked it more than the RK? Or you wish you had both.

Ummm.. interesting… I’d never have two Harley’s.. if I had to chose what to sit alongside the GSA ….. it would be the LRS…..if I didn’t have the GSA it would be the RKS…

But I have a GSA….. but cannot be bothered at the moment to go through a change as too much going on in work/home life to be hassled….

The thing I need to fix on the RKS is the terrible stock suspension… the suspension on the softails is excellent…..on the RKS…. Just the worst…

I heard the newer RK (with M8 motor) had much improved suspension, apparently not. That's the main reason I moved on from my 2015.

RK or GSA for your upcoming trip?

Love the looks of that, @Clifton Thanks for sharing! Often tempted to go back to a Harley but 6 bikes is my limit (...for now)

The rear suspension is rock hard… front is ok… but I need new rear shocks (dampers) this winter for sure…

I'm looking at a road king right now. I wouldn't mind having an HD to ride with other folks I know who ride HDs. I like that the RK has dual disks up front and the very classic look. A right proper HD riding experience possibly .....

You're welcome, Simon. I'm tempted by this Softail because others, including Twizzle, remark they are the best riding Harleys.

The last time I tried to buy a new Harley (Pan America) I got pissed by the local dealer's deceptive pricing and simply walked out. I imagine they're still playing the same game and TBH I'm just not interested in dealing with them. I do know the sales manager of another dealership 40 miles from here though.....

But I'm already about a bike or two over my self imposed limit now.

Twizzle it's sad to hear the newer RK rear suspension is still so unforgiving. I was going to replace the shocks if I kept mine because the bike is delightful otherwise.

Two things planned, new shocks … for a better ride and some slip ons for a little more noise.. the stock bike is super quiet .. don’t want to pee off the neighbours … but need a little more soundtrack

Performance wise it’s more than enough for the package ….

All in… great bikes .. and so flexible in configuration… running a Le Pera seat and Wind splitter I was able to do a 500 mile day last year on a run through France to Spain in one go… and could walk at the end… just stopping for petrol every 200 miles ( and coffee)

All I need now is to buy that Kawasaki ZRX1200 I’ve always fancied….

If you want just "a little" louder keep an eye out for CVO take-offs which usually sell for not much. Some who buy a new CVO take the slip-ons off first thing for loud aftermarket ones.
