New 2027 Tiger 1200s

More info revealed including Apple Car Play plus auto lowering and even help to get it on the mainstand, making it perfect for the knackered old fat fuck who really should be on a smaller lighter bike but has to save face with his ‘mates’ 🤦‍♂️
MCN and the likes could do with a bit of your ‘journalistic’ prowess and honesty on their pages I reckon.

Some two wheel wobbly boxes even have a reverse gear to help their aging jockeys 🤣

I’ll readily admit it , with disc and nerve damage I can’t manhandle a big adventure bike like I could . And I don’t want artificial help . And what do you do the day it doesn’t lower and your feet are dangling an inch off the ground rather than where you expected to be ?
But each to their own .
And getting a bike on the mainstand is all about technique. If you can’t do it then you may as well pack it in and get a wobbly box 🤣

I must confess there's much to love about Triumph. I did love my 2015 Tiger 800XCx and I almost went for the 1200. The finish is excellent. A rather indifferent attitude to me when I walked into the dealer in Valencia rather put me off, though, and so I walked out and no-one even noticed. I was spending a morning looking at bikes. From there I went to BMW and they treated me very differently. I never got to Ducati.

I may never have got to BMW had my treatment been different, but actually, when you consider the very steep depreciation of the Explorer as it was called then (2018), they did me a favour. It was also nowhere near as good as the R1200GS with TFT, and the price was not that different.

It's really not a bike for Spain; the heat coming off that engine (wonderful as it was in so many other ways) is immense and it was one of the three things I didn't like about my own Tiger. The other was the brakes (at the time, subsequently fixed, they listened to their customers), the other was how top-heavy it was. It required much more thought going into corners.

Triumph will only ever play catch-up in the 1200 adv market. At least Ducati try to make their bikes a little different and they think a little more about the weight.

This new iteration doesn't even have radar CC which, when you have it, you realise how excellent it is and how much safer it is to use.
And you have matured perfectly into the archetypal BMW rider .
The recent ‘upgrade’ from GS to GSA is the icing on the cake 😘

But that new Triumph with all its aids would be perfect for you . 🤣

yes, I am one of those sad ´´fcuks´´ who struggles when my GSA leans too far over and need help getting it back upright. But never struggled with getting it onto the centre stand and still dont find it too much to trade in for said wobbly box....
Long may it last.....
But then again I am not a Triumph fan...nice bikes but just not for me.

I am, I admit it, but as I have said on numerous occasions, I don't enjoy your ability - not many do - to change bikes every six months and try (how many is it now? 50 or so?). So I just found the one that does everything (very) well enough.

I already have all those aids. I think they're great, especially the radar CC. That is a revelation. So much safer. The only thing it doesn't have which the Tiger does is backlit switchgear.

Not 100%, but I think if it fails (like mine did - sidestand microswitch) it's not that it stays up, it's that it doesn't rise. In any case, longshanks, it really wouldn't be a problem for you, we're talking the length of your willy, 2cm; you'd plant your feet easily.

Mine was like it for the running-in period and no technique, unless you're King Kong, will get that bike up from it's lowered state!

I did drop it once on a carpeted garage floor whilst I didn't have the "assist" trying to be clever, but i found the "put your back into it" method worked really well to get it upright again.

19K is looking a little punchy, I think a 900 would be better in most respects and at least you can then choose whether you want a 19 or 21" front wheel. Also the Tigers run super steep rake's (both 900 and 1200), most ADV bikes run 27 degrees, but this is 24 which is better on road, but worse off road.

I'd take a KTM 1390 ADV R over this as want the 'compromises' of an off-road focussed setup. Can't wait to see what else is released over the coming week !

Every six months ? Pah .
You were quicker on your old Tiger though 🤣

Tiger looks quite pricy but comes with a great deal of standard kit such as heated grips and seats.
I’m guessing a similar spec GSA will make it the priciest of the three ? .

Surely BMW will update their decade old TFT soon rather than get left behind by the competition with modern touch screen TFTs such as KTM and this latest Tiger also incorporating CarPlay

I was younger and the bike was.....quite a bit lighter. It's one of the reasons I never wanted a sportsbike; if could do 200mph, I would have tried it. I reckon, though, I wasn't slower on my 1200 (I am on my GSA, though), it's just that that triple screamed an awful lot.

I had a race up the N621 with three Northern Irish lads on Multistradas between Dobares and the deer statue (mirador del Corzo). I was on my 1200. They couldn't take me and as I pulled in to the statue to wait for the others, the guy behind me gave me a thumbs up as he went by. It's those blind right handers, you see. I'm used to them, and they aren't for the faint hearted.

They wouldn’t take you on your 1300 either as that road isn’t wide enough to get past you . 🤣

It will, but any saving will be wiped off thrice over after three years of comparative depreciation.

The TFT is 8 years old and lack of a touch screen is not a deal-breaker. Although CARPLAY would be nice so that you don't have to spend £300 on a INNOVV or Capuride. However, if your TFT goes blank ,as mine did once, then it's actually quite nice to have another one..... a bit like on our planes. :D

On paper (and in the flesh) the Triumph is a smart machine, but try one for a summer in 30+ degrees and bring it on the old Luarca Rd and then we'll talk. ;)

Except they got past 7 others including Shane. ;)

Ah, I see, just re-read your post.... was that a little Martin joke?.... very good, very funny....

Does look very well thought out .

The one thing you can rely on the Tigers for is abysmal and boooring colour schemes with only about 2 colours per bike. Only the colour on the Rally Explorer looks decent.

At least the Multi lets you spend a bit and choose what you really want
