If only this had not been announced on a day when the likelihood of future generations having three distinct genetic codes dominates the news.

The world will never be the same again, particularly in Inistioge.

Scuse my ignorance.. but is this for windows only? just had a look and there's no mention of an update for basecamp on mac

Seems like Windows only, can't find any mention of the new version for OSX on their website.

They'll get around to it, hopefully soon.

If you want to take a risk - there is a beta for Mac

Not wishing to be defeatist .... but I think on past history I'll wait for the released version ..... then I'll let someone else test it ....then I'll wait for the posted responses .....then I'll catch up with version 2 ....... when they have rectified all the faults ....... looking forward to using it in 2017!

Sigh ... having downloaded this only a couple of days ago I'm really missing Mapsource! I'm finding this so bloody un-user friendly.

I really hate it !!

Head over to the AppStore, it was released today.

Ok Trixie, serious head on now ... !

I've got this new 660 with my new GS (feckin' good bike ... :D) and of course Basecamp.

Mapsource was always a disc, and was not 'maps for life' - my last version was a 2010 disc. Is mapsource now available as a download? Will they see 'Ahh Giles - yep he's a good bod and has just bought a new sat nav - we'll send him Mapsource for free ... ?'

Fuck, I hate being a ludite, I am just so computer illiterate ... :blast

Edit .... having had a look on Google, it looks like Mapsource is not being updated by Garmin at all ..

Mapsource can be updated with the latest maps. I did it a week or so ago. :thumb2

Whether it will last forever I don't know.

To be frank, I update my GPS maps less and less often. Much of the new data that comes with each update is not so much roads (other than new ones, they don't really change that much) but the data that sits behind... Road speed limits, hotels and other Points of Interest, most of which I can either use my eyes for or find the exact street address via a Google search and create a Waypoint manually. Similarly, I have no great need for inch perfect detailed mapping of Helsinki or downtown Lisbon as I won't be going to either on my motorcycle anytime soon.

I have no use of Basecamp's bells'n'whistles 'Motorcycle routing' or whatever it's called. I can work out where I want to go exactly, without help from some geek's idea of what constitutes a 'great road, mate'.

You should be able to download a basic version of Mapsource from the Garmin website, then update it with the new maps, just like normal. If you want a disc with it on, PM your address and I'll lob mine in the post to you.... I would like it back, as I suspect they might become rare.

Here you go.....

This might be handy, too.....

It is of course theft. But, like murder, speeding, tiny weeny number plates and riproaring exhausts, only bad if they catch you.
