Although I've always been interested in trials, modern trials and the bikes strangely do nothing for me although of course I admire the skills of the modern sport.

So around four years ago I joined a 'Classic' trials club and entered in the Twin Shock class with this piece of shite.

Knowing little of the sport and bikes I soon realised it wasn't really set up well and suspected the crank seals had gone as it lacked power, eventually I looped the bastard it dropped down into a rocky stream with a shattered front hub.

I got it fixed up, sold it and bought this brilliant Fantic which is really competitive bike. These were generally reckoned to be THE best trials bike of it's era.

The Fantic is easy to ride and faultless BUT the reason I got into classic trials was my love of the pre '65 bikes.

So this week I've finally got one and spent today getting to know it.
It took an hour to get into it but then things clicked and we gelled, I love it!

Late 50's C15 engine that's been modified to give a low down soft power with PVL ignition a new carb and inlet manifold, alloy barrel and close ratio trials gears fitted into a Jim Pickering Drayton frame, MP forks, Bantam hubs with billet brake plates etc etc.

I'm away for the next trial so have to wait until our Clubs two day event in Mid Wales, in the meantime I'll be out practicing at every opportunity:) :bounce1

Very nice.

But be careful-I think you have dislodged your colostomy bag which appears to be lying on the ground in the last picture !!

All of those look lovely ! I used to be in the scrambler club at university and we had a couple of ossa's and bultaco's ,not trials I know ,but from the fantic era .Buggars to start but what fun .:thumby:

....and why you feel the need to bring that giant dildo out with you God only knows.

Nice jacket though .... :ymca

How do you fit your sleeping bag under that bridge?

PS I like the bike......it's got that 'thing' about it :beerjug:

(and yer bike is missing its seat - you should ask for a re-fund ... )

Give the man some credibility Bill .... that green container looks like a proper palace .... :thumb2

Great pics Tim, the last one could be straight from 1957

That is such a pretty bike! :thumb2

Yeah it is pretty but that's how form follows function, nothing on this bike or any trials bike is there for looks........ although I'm sure JB has plenty of carbon fibre guards and stickers on his modern trials bike:D

It was built for the Scottish Pre 65 trial, I'm using it as a competition bike in local events where looks count for nothing :beerjug:

One very very nice bike (not that I would know anything about it)

Hi Tim,

Did it compete in the Scottish Pre-'65 ?? If so, which year(s) ??

I may have pictures :augie.

Bob.

Having been in the odd trial with Tim, I know that half our enjoyment has been watching some of the "proper" bikes attacking the sections. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the flesh, and maybe prising it out of Tim's hands for a couple of seconds! :D
