Well have finally taken the plunge and get my 1150 GS from Rainbow next week so I thought I would say hello and introduce myself as I have been reading with interest the different forums on this website, and from reading peoples comments about the GS I thought I would ask the question Will I enjoy riding/owning the GS? I used to ride a CB500 whilst it was ok for going to work ect when touring in Scotland it was hardwork riding for more than an hour or so and after a while it became bland and uninspiring to ride, I have some friends through the local IAM who rave about the handling etc and whilst I have ridden a GS for a couple of hours am not too sure what to expect over long term ownership, any comments would be greatly received, from reading previous threads I suspect I may have opened a can of worms with this question heyho!!

PS Hope to meet up with anyone who lives in the yorkshire area who would like a rideout swop tips etc basically just get the most out of becoming a GSer!:D

Andy

Are you the guy who purchased the Touratech spoiler from me.

Drop me your number and you are welcome to join me and the lads for ride outs.

We are out usually once in the week and always at weekends

This Sat & Sunday

Regards

Howie

Welcome aboard Andy.

The short answer is almost certainly YES......you will enjoy it, as long as your expectations are realistic, the GS will probably exceed them.

OH BTW, watch out for Shifty McSharry.......he'll lead you astray......particularly if he sugggests that you ride along the grass at the side of the track........

Do not listen to him ;)

Andy

See you at the IAM meeting on monday night ?

Introduce yourself.

Thanks for the response guys, Howie fraid I haven't bought anything from you but I do have the touratech catalogue next to me and have already bought the stop thingy that goes on the telelever wishbone and also the side panels and am even fancying a GPS system!! I haven't even got the bike yet and I am enjoying it more than the CB500!!

It would be grand to meet up with you and your mates for a ride out during the week as saturdays i am usually busy, I will try to pm my mobile number to you, not done that yets lets see how i get on!

Jimbo, we may have already met at the IAM I have been attending on and off for the past couple of years done a bit of advanced training with Lenny and Tony Meredith but not managed to take the test yet so once the new bikes sorted that will probably be on 'the to do list' I am down to go the Rainbow Wales trip in a couple of weeks so i should be able to gain a good insight into the GS'S character then, see you at the club noight tomorrow

Don't forget to buy some ear plugs - you'll need them. Lovely bike the GS but the engine is bloody noisy; just wish the exhaust was!

Andy

If your'e going to Wales the examiner is leading the trip so watch him carefully so you know what he's looking for.

I think you need to be a sponsor for that to work, money well spent... Click on the sponsors tab at the top of the screen for info.
