What with all the negative comments I am now concerned that I have made the right choice with regards ordering a new 1200 Should I cancel?

cruisermoi,

most of the negative comments are from people who haven't even sat on a 12 let alone ride one. :(

I really didn't know if I was doing the right thing when I ordered mine - I loved my old Blackbird to bits but the GS has far exceeded all of my expectations (and it hasn't had any faults in 2500 miles over just 5 weeks). Don't know what bike you're coming from but I would have thought if I can make that swap then anybody could get on with it!

If you want objective views (good AND bad) then I would only listen to people who have actually lived with the bikes and not those expressing ill informed opinion.

Thanks System Addict.
To answer your question what bike did I come from, it was a bmw r1200c (Cruiser) we had an argument with a load of deisel that someone had kindly spewed all over the A9 the bike is (I hope) to be written off thereby enabling me to go for the 1200.

No.....absolutely not.....if you've made your choice beween the 12 and the Adv (that's another debate altogether ;) ;) ) then stick with it.

I don't like the 12's myself, for several reasons I've articulated in other threads, however, I'll say NO for two reasons.....

There's an old adage in marketing....people who are disatisfied tell 20 of their mates....the satisfed only tell a few.

We all discuss problems here, but the problems are far outweighed by the satisfied owners who don't see any reason to simply start a post titled 'I'm satisfied.'

Secondly, even if it seems that the R1200gs has a few more faults than its predecessors, (and bear in mind it has some more radical changes betwen the 'old' model and the 'new' such as the canbus system and the trellis subframe) , you've still ordered from a bloody good brand....you probably won't ever have heard of 'the sanguine' but in general, you'll probaly find you get far better service from BWM than most other manufacturers.

Don't cancel the order.......if it goes wrong, you'll be covered by BWM and their backup/service , plus you get to ride the bike of choice for tossers worldwide.:D :D

(PS yeah cancel actually....get the far superior R1150GS ADV ;) ;) )
