I have bought myself a new pair of motorbike boots, Forma Adventure boots in brown. Size 13 and bought online as most shops wont have my size. These have good reviews and were in offer at Sports Bike Shop. Anyway these are the first pair of proper motorbike boots I have ever owned as have always worn army boots on the bike. The new boots seem alright so far but my leather trousers wont go over them which means i have to tuck them in. All the photos I have found online show that thats how they are supposed to be worn but won’t all the rain go down the side of them?

I asked a Police motorcyclist about this last weekend. He was wearing Daytona boots and leather trousers with the trousers tucked into the boots. I wear Daytona boots and Rokker Revolution jeans, and my jeans go over the boots.

His reply was that the only reason was because the leather trousers wouldn't fit over the boots and that yes, his feet got wet if it rained a lot. Then again, he also said if he knew it was going to be wet he would wear his Rukka trousers instead and over the boots. Or just spend the day in a patrol car.

Thanks, maybe they expect you to wear waterproof over trousers in the rain that would make sense. I generally tend to avoid rain gear and end up getting wet as don’t like being too trussed up. I have Bike Safe on Sunday so will will see what they say! ;)

are you not supposed to purchase the adventure trousers to accompany the adventure boots?

How did BikeSafe go? As you are in Littlehampton, did you go out with my mate Pete who is the BikeSafe coordinator for Sussex? I did it (for the 5th time) last Sunday and there were just three members of the public and three bike officers, so we all got a morning's 1:1 tuition. I went out with Pete and let's just say we didn't hang about. I am sure that some of the car drivers we were overtaking were sure I was being chased by the big yellow bike.

As for rain gear, 95% of the time I wear Rokker Revolution jeans which are 100% waterproof, plus my Rukka Nivala jacket, so I am pretty much always waterproof. No need to carry or struggle into any additional rain gear. If the weather is going to be really filthy, I wear the pants for the Rukka Nivala suit instead.

How did BikeSafe go?

Very soggy leather trousers, one can only guess.

That and wet feet.

PS This assumes that he had his spanking new leather trousers, tucked into his brown size 13, bought from Sports Bike Shop * spanking new boots and didn’t wear any waterproof over-trousers…… It also assumes that it rained, of course.

* I am not sure that the size, colour or where the boots in question came from, adds anything.

It definitely rained. I was out all day on the bike and it rained up until about lunchtime. After that, it was lovely! Of course, I was snug and dry in my (see above)....
