I'll be fitting new rear pads to my 1150 ABS servo GS.
I have been told that when you change a car with ABS brake pads you need to disconect the battery to prevent fingers being chopped off. Do I need to do this when I fit new pads to my GS or has someone been misleading me?
Any other precautions I should be taking?
Always use protection??

Regards

Mike

Never disconected the battery when i've changed mine just remember to turn on the ignition and press brake brake pedal afterwards :thumb

Precautions:

Obviously work with the ignition turned off.

When pushing the pistons back into the caliper, push them gently and slowly. Apparently if you just force them back in you can damage the ABS pump.

As forry says, once the new pads are fitted and calipers reinstalled, turn ignition on and operate the brakes to seat the pads.

Remember to let the pads bed in before using the brakes in anger.
