Not sure what other new bmws are coming with but my R12 G/S has a non wired phone holder. Your phone connects to the wheel + bike data via Bluetooth..

So this device won't be suitable. See you can get motorcycle car play screens on amazon but not spotted one with wheel integration yet?

Apols if I've missed your point but isn't that how they've always connected? The one on my 10 yo bike certainly does and it shouldn't matter whether the BT is supplied via the mount or from anywhere else on the bike, so this should work OK (as the advert says).

Possibly except this is designed to fit the bmw wired cradle, my bike doesn't use that cradle. It has a dumb phone holder instead.

And the BT comms is provided from somewhere else on the bike not the cradle - see the R12 G/S manual. The "old" cradle had to provide BT comms as the bikes themselves didn't have it.

So can I use the ridernav on the G/S without the wheel if I just plug the usb lead to power the unit on a BMW sat nav mount. Or even better is it easy to run the cable to fix it to the bike power somewhere. Im a bit of a numpty at this sort of thing bur any advice appreciated.

Or can I power this via the din socket into the unit?

Have a look at the Motor Tablet, best I've used by far.

Options for all bikes and has the option of integrated cameras and tyre pressure monitoring.
Touch screen control for navigation, music etc.
On most BMW models the tablet can be operated by the wonderwheel.

Interested in getting a tablet thing instead of my Nav 5 as had major issues with it last summer touring round Europe for 3 months.
Can anyone point me to a group test of them all; if such a test exists?? Motortablet, Carpureride, Chiggee thing etc. Ta.

One of the inmates has done a series of videos comparing several recent models……

I’m a recent convert to them, as I was lucky enough to win a Chigee Aio 5 for BMW recently. Although, I still need to find the right app to use for Euro trip navigation. I want one which has the ability to customise routes, as well as having the ability to show live traffic and road closures.
This may help https://www.mototechinsider.com/carplay

I read of Sygic being recommended regularly for European travel. It appears to offer those features you want in the paid version, either Premium or Premium +. Why it is better than others, I do not know.

Good man! I appreciate the shoutout! :)

As per the RiderNav, it's currently my favorite device by a longshot. The screen is beautiful, one of the fastest devices and with a great design.

PLUS, the killer feature of being able to control your action cam which is brilliant!

Definitely an option you should consider if you're in the market for a carplay or android auto device

Cheers!

I have one of these, really nicely made unit - I have an issue where occasionally when I make a short stop, filling up with fuel for example, when I restart the bike it doesn’t switch back on. Bit of a pain when I only notice after riding off and have to pull over and cycle the ignition.
Feels like a software bug rather than hardware issue but i’ve yet to pin point exactly what triggers it. I’ve written to their support and am waiting for feedback.
Do you ever have the same issue?

Honestly, no...never happened to me. It'll be a good test to see what kind of response you get from support.

Out of curiosity, have you tried to do an update on it? I know I've gotten 2 updates since I got my unit.

Also, make sure that the contacts are clean.

Hope that helps and keep us posted on resolution.

Cheers

I'm on the latest update, they've added a useful 'Lock Screen' feature in the last one.
Good shout on the contacts - I'll give them a clean.
I'll post an update when I receive a response from their support.

Update on this, support team have been very responsive in trying to resolve the issue. There’s a new firmware update about to be released which should hopefully fix it…

no this might seem a silly question, but I am a simple soul...... they say they fit the BMW cradles, but do they also fit the aftermarket ones such as the lockable touratech cradles?
