Out walking the dog yesterday and found the missing Corwen ford, just down the road from my place. :thumb

I'm going to check it out with the farmer and try and ride across it before it rains much, there's already quite a strong current on the far side

I'll be using a BOAT

But not sure yet, I think a private track as it's not on my TRF marked map. It's probably owned by my landlord, Lord Newborough :bow but i'll see the farmer and tell him what I would like to do

Is that...

The River Dee?
What is the map reference of this spot Tim?
Was this the route before Thomas Telford built what we know as the A5?
Looks challenging, even for my Land Rover. If you need a guinea-pig though, I'll give it a try.

Tactics..

Tim, if you got a moment or two of time free.. one handy tactic we used as a 4x4 club many years ago was to offer a few hours of labour, in exchange for limited access to routes across private land..

Luckily we had a local welsh speaker with thus to ensure we got off on the right foot. That and the occasional 4pack of largers dropped at the farm house, before heading across their tracks kept us in their good books.

We re-built some fences, repaired gates, painted signs.. nothing major just a couple of hours now and then and built a good repour.

Hope you get permission.. it looks like fun.

Timpo, yes on the Dee. the ref is SJ 055 424

It looks like it's used by the farmer, but whether he uses a tractor or Landrover I'm unsure but certainly not when the river is high :nono

I could chance it with my Pajero but there is a current and the rocks may be slippy. If I get permission I'll try and walk it first with my girly standing by with camera :D before trying to get the DR over.
If I think there should be a couple of us there I'll give you a shout and you can go first :D

I think big GSs are best left until there's a few of us around and Fanum can try it :)

I'll ask about the old A5 route.

As for Rocks's handy Tic Tacs.... I'll volunteer your services:D

Tic tacs..

hmm tic tacs.. doudt they would work as well, best used abroad.. farmers have higher demands here..lol

Hope you get permission..

Canoe

Tim,
I'll bring my big canoe up and we can check it out...perhaps on our two up trail ride adventure :D

I went over there yesterday and chatted with the farmer.

Even now without much rain it's one ane a half meters deep in places  . He said it comes into the cab of his landrover so only uses the big tractor :D .

It seems it's been washed away over the years, he remembered being able to walk over it as a child.

So it looks like this is not to be attempted on bikes :(

Unless we can get Kenny to try it ;)

One and a half meter, that is 150 centimeters = peanuts for you guys!
But wear a life jacket, please... :bounce1
