i have had the same desktop pc for three years now. it has a 1.7ghz intel celeron processor, i have already installed a bigger hard drive, memory, and graphics card . so is it just as easy to replace the cpu with a bigger/better, one? like a 3ghz one . the reason for this question is, as a game player there is a new game called oblivion which will not even run on a 1.7ghz processor ,and i am a tight git and do not want to have to buy a new pc. :D

A new chip, a new motherboard, possibly new memory, maybe change your video card as well if it isnt compatible (new ones are PCI Express vs older AGP). Then reinstall of OS, service packs, patchs, reinstall programs and apps, copy all your data, emails back etc.

Fun weekend!

To be completely honest, the Xbox 360 is (currently) superior to pretty much any PC you can buy on the market now. And Oblivion in particular looks better, will run more smoothly all for a damn site less than a major upgrade would cost. You also find a lot of games you play on the PC are also available on the XBox 360, like Oblivion, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2 and so on.

Worth a look I think.

thank,s people, but if it,s going to get that complicated i think i will just get a new pc. i see what you are saying about the console but consoles do not allow you to patch and update games and play custom levels, the pc is just far more flexible, and anyway the xbox 360 is over £200.00 plus the cost of the xbox games on top of that, i will just bite the bullet and get a new pc. thank,s for the advice :thumb
