Just had my bike returned from Duffys after 8 days with them fro replacement engine due to corrosion and paint flaws. did about 500kms in last week and decided on a Sunday spin only to find a ot of oil all over the rear of the bike. Me thinks time to reject this heap . Its a shame as I just love riding this bike but how can it be right to pay almost 20K euro in Ireland for a bike that sees more of the garage than the highway. Just insane. Wondering how my REJECTION of BIKE will be recieved...Any ideas !!!!

There are quite a few variables like how old the bike is? How many times it's been back to the dealers for repair? etc

You need to get the dealer on your side, fighting your corner so don't lose your rag with them

The rest should be easy :augie

Well its clearly chain lube!
Seriously, thats what it looks like at first glance which suggests to me its possibly the FD seal, leaking out on to the wheel and then being flung around.
As Nice n fat says you need to get your Dealer onside for a sorting out session.
You havn`t just ridden through soft tarmac or black paint have you?

Find out where the oil is coming from first.
If Duffy's can see the problem they will sort it.

Seriously??? I hope this is a wind up??

you see the way its nice neat circles ?

it means it was thrown there! I suspect that its tar from road repairs because it looks more like crude oil than bike oils!

oil leaks stream from point of origin or fly in a line due to centrifugal force usually

Is that banjo bolt, one up from the rear brake, on correctly?

Indeed :thumb

Those 'oil' splatters at the front of the drive shaft sweep forward, those at the back sweep backwards, probably run over something :nenau

That oil you speak of, on the close up, looks like dirt to me. :nenau

You have oil on the back side of the back suspension spring, that to me can not be from the engine.

Its NOT mucky. i rode it for 1 km once spotted to see if i could notice FRESH OIL and I did. Cant figure out where its coming from and too pissed to keep looking

I confess I've seen similar on my bike and had a moment where I thought it was oil... but with no apparent source and the wrong spray pattern, it's fairly clear it's not oil.

As soon as I read a thread headline which names the dealer "NEW ENGINE DUFFY's ..... RESULT IN PICS....OIL EVERYWHERE"

It is immediately apparent that the poster is trying for the maximum impact on the dealer, and has already decided that he (the poster) is in the right......

I'll literally laugh my bollocks off - if it turns out to be shit off the road.

Al
