Hi guys i have just fitted a set of Fastaway pegs from Nippy Normans and they are great BUT they dont fold up properly??? they seem to catch on the frame work that holds the pegs. they only fold up half the distance of the original pegs is this normal??? thanks for you help guys....

On my 1150 ADV they fold about 3/4 of the way as the inside of the peg hits the mounting point due to the extra width of the peg and the angle at witch they are mounted .......... :bounce1

However yours is a different bike ............... :blast

You may be able to grind or file part of the lug on the footrest enough to allow the peg to come back further.

Mine don't fold up and they spring right back down when I try to fold them which is where I want them:thumb

Is there a problem with this?

If it is a problem why not ring Nippy Norman's. They're helpful;);)

if its on a f650gs it's common. Mine do it on the dakar, i've left them as they are, its not caused a problem in the few thousad miles i've had them on. I'm nearly on the edge of the tire and i've not hit them on the deck yet. might be different on a standard f650gs :nenau

it is on a Dakar! if you guys had no problems then i will give them a go.

I was also considering getting some Drop Bars and off road tyres, i have lokked on the FAQ but its all tooooo confusing can anyone recomend the best drop/crash bars and the best tyres for 60%road 40% off road??
I bow before your wisdom ;)

I have the touratech engine / fairing bars. Protected the bike when i had an off (bike went down on the kerb / grass)

The only tires i've used on the dakar are sahara 3's and tourances. i never got more than 3500 out of a rear sahara, the tourance is at that now and it's not even part worn. I love the tourances, they are more road biased tho. I have about 10mm of tire unused at the edges :augie Something that didn't feel safe on the saharas.

Don't do much serious offroad on the dakar so i don't know what'd work best for you.

i have got tourances but they are seriously lacking in the mud or sand, just want something in between.... those bars do the cover the fairring ( dont think i have spent this right) ..

If you have a 650, I have some crashbars for you- might need a wee bit of welding as they were adapted to get past the Elkamet long range tanks- they also have a storage box made by Eddie at Overland Solutions.
To you Sir FOC!

As for tyres
I can heartily recommend the Michelin Syrac about 70% road and 30 trail but not deep mud as you'd need knobblies for that ( Iused Pirelli MT21's)
