Only had my 09 GS 2 weeks and had to have a new wheel and tyre, worse thing about it is I cant remember hitting any bad pots holes. Dealer assures me that they would'nt have let it out with the damage, I did'nt inspect it that closely and just rode it every day rain(lots of it) or shine so I have to take there word for it. £700:blast.

Its going be an expensive hobby much to the girlfriends dismay.

Noth Devon roads, you got to love em (if I did it).

Wow, on a bike designed, and aimed primerily at rumbling over tracks, gravel and rocks - surely this shouldnt have happened !
Were the the cast or spoked ??

I doubt Devon roads are that bad

###Somebody might suggest finding the deepedt pothole - then photographing it & sending a claim to Devon council####
Obviously that wouldnt be me suggesting that - but it was their bl00dy roads that have ultimately caused it anyway- so i wouldn't blame you if you did

Talking of 'front-ends' i nearly binned the bike on a cheese sandwich which was in the road today in the middle of a bend - bit of a 'moment' to say the least

What was up with it? Was is dented or just out of true?

Try a wanted add on here first. For sure someone will have a wheel for grabs.

What type of cheese?

It was on wholemeal brown bread . . . . . thats why i nearly fell off.

Let me explain . . . .

I strongly beleive that, if it had of been on white bread i would have spotted it easier and thus been able to take avoiding action

I can't vouch for the type of cheese but after looking at the remnents flung up onto the front of the engine, i would guess at a 'crumbly-Lancashire'
Smelt like a 'toasty' when it was on the hot engine - but i was hungry at the time, and so it could have been my imagination.
I dont think there was any pickle - although i'm going back that route later on today and can stop and check if you like :)

On a further note - would the well documented 'crud catcher' stop the cheese/engine interfacing in any future occurances like this - or do Tourtech do a special cheese guard ?:yelrotflm

PS: I've not been drinking :jager

If I were you, I'd get the wheel and tyre back from the dealer as they are yours. If you can get the wheel fixed, you may get some money back and the tyre will be good to go.

I would shout & stamp a little at the dealers - an 'adventure bike' should be able to take Devon roads well within its strides for tens of thousands of miles , trouble free

I needed the bike so I had to get it done. I will try again retrospectivly but I dont hold much hope. Watch out for those cheese sarnies.

My missus had a dent repaired on her mills R oz wheel for 50 quid by Dave east in Leicester if I remember correctly. Bargain and it was a big dent

Wheels & tyres on e-Bay at the moment, much much much cheaper mate
