i dont want to be abnoxious ( is this the correct way to spell it?)
but on the eve of such a big event for a forum expressly dedicated to the gs bike...i mean its been awhile..no news no rumor no nothing......cmon friends!!!

here in italy the dealer community is keeping quiet( maybe a bit paranoied with the present gs in stock...) and says news will be out in december ....but the street is talking abput an official presentation at Bologna show.....

I actually had this morning a referrer on my web site that was an Italian BMW dealer, who had the bike in its catalog. The picture they were using was the photo that has been circulating with the orange/yellow tank with a R1200GS decal. It's obviously a photoshop thingy, and they had no price, no availability.

They probably hoped that I'd take it up on my site....

I was in Prestige Bexleyheath an hour ago and Colin said that the 1200 adv wouldnt be out until this time next year and the 1200 final production model wouldnt be out until about march.

The '04 ADventure is 100 quid more expensive but comes pretty much fully loaded....black engine and tranny, abs, enduro box, hand guards and big tank.......and engine bars

At the risk of hijacking the thread, what do you guys reckon on an 02 Adv, full hard luggage, big tank, ABS ,6 spd box, hand guards, y piece and remus, not immaculate but £7995??

In about 4 weeks i'm going to be doing a ring around to find a decent Adv in silver and this one's about what i want apart from the csmetics and engine colour...seems a reasonable price too.

17k on the clock btw

Hmmm! That is interesting about the ABS, Engine bars,on the 04 Adv i was told it is just the black eng/tran, large tank , and the tyres/low gear are optional?

Well Colin had this black book thingy with a print out in it......he showed me the page on the Adv....I'd just said I wasnt too interested in the off-road tyres and he poked his finger at the line and said it did come with them as standard but they could be changed...I think as a no cost option, but he did say the package had the 'enduro gearbox'.

On the face of it it's a fair deal anyway...the big tank is going for £250 but on the '04 at 100 quid more it's included......

I've got a dilemma coming up now.....in about 4 weeks my remortgage should be complete and i've factored in about 10k for an adventure plus the toys........so whether to go for the 04 package (dammit i didnt ask when it was available to order or for delivery arse!!!) or a slightly used version with all the kit......

new gs 2004

Had an e-mail from my local dealer recently regarding the forthcoming "Boxer"
I'd been in there about a month previously and tried blagging some information about the new model GS,on the basis that I'd be prepared to order there & then if the price was right to change:D
He wouldn't or couldn't divulge any more info than the speculation that was (and still is) appearing in the motorcycle comics at the time,he did, however offer to put my name on the list for the new model,no deposit required,I declined as I'd not seen the new model-preferring to see it in the flesh before I commit myself, IF I change it will be when the warranty expires on my current Adv.
His mail reads along the lines of;

The first of a new generation Boxer as featured in MCN recently is expected to be launched to the world's dealers late this year/early next year. The bike, seemingly designed to replace BMW's best selling model is attracting a huge amount of interest, in fact the likely new model description is one of the top 10 keywords used in internet search engines! With the amount of enquiries already made and the number of people that have asked me to 'bag' them one of the first few bikes or to be put on the waiting list, I have come to the conclusion that this is definitely one to forward order and that the fairest way of dealing with it is to accept deposits on a first come, first served basis. We would require a minimum deposit of £500 to secure a build slot.

Note there is no reference to the model type-GS or 1200

;)

THERE IS NO NEW GS!

"BIKE" Magazine (Nov 2003 edition) don't mention it in the New Metal section so it doesn't exist, you're all mad, this thread has NO meaning.. Because it's not in Bike magazine..
the only new BMW bike is the Montauk, so when you people who've paid your deposits go to pick up your new "GS" it will be a Montauk so there.. (and try fitting H&B bars to to a Montauk, you smart arses)

If it's not in BIKE magazine, it's not real...

now I need another cum and roke..

Sent an email to Bike asking where the details were in the October issue ('all the new 04 bikes in colour') for the new 1200 GS. No surprise then that they didn't bother to reply.:redbone

I have it good authority that the UK dealers are going to the official launch in early February '04 and that the first limited batch are expected either at the end of February or early March.

I was in Vines BMW in Guildford trying to get some news. The sales guys there were very fed up because they had not been told anything by BMW, and had to deal with lots of people coming in asking about the new 1200GS.

They said it was definitely affecting 1150GS sales, with people deciding to hang on until the 1200 was out instead of getting a new 1150. They also said that 1150 used values would suffer as more used bikes came onto the market with people changing for the 1200.

They did offer to take a £500 deposit off me for a 1200, which was nice.
