New GS coming in 2017

One of the chaps on the other forum seems to have some more info:

"For 2017 BMW is only changing colours for GSAW. Tripple black coming your way. No added bhp for now.
For the normal GSW they are going to slightly change the direction.
There will be 2 models available in GS with an emphasis on one for road (Straße) and and one for more off road (Gelande) version.

The Street version will be more sporty (S) with the S in GS in red. It will come with cast/alloy wheels and slightly higher bhp and more street orientated tyres. (Maybe went back to lighter flywheel and had stalling issues sorted?) Enduro Pro will not be available but as an improved "sport" setting. It also loses the hand guards.

The Off road version (G) will have spoke wheels and will include crash bars (lower only), wider footpegs, off road brake lever and pannier racks like GSA and an option for off road tyres. Also will have slightly more suspension travel (equal to GSA) and 21" (option) front (same as offered by Wunderlich). This version was as a result of the GS Trophy event where they took the standard GS and pimped it up a bit and a lot of GS riders preferring this over a full fat GSA.

2018 GSA models rumour has it will then be updated with a form of hill start assist."

I like the sound of this...

Fixed it for you ;)
Believe it when you see it, I'll be at the Milan show later this year I wonder if there will be any firm news by then as opposed to rumours.

the link also shows the K1300s for 2017 ,though these had been discontinued completely ?

:D

There must be some truth in it, as my dealer knows I have the money burning a hole in my pocket, but has advised me to wait. Normally most dealers would say anything to get a sale.

A new Honda AT slayer, brilliant - I'll have one :)

Mine too Nutty he has put no pressure on, wouldn't do any good though if he tried, and told him I'll pay cash. Looks like a race to see who can get the first GSA T/B ? Presuming of course our info is correct.

Sounds like they are resurrecting the ST:rolleyes:

Apparently the are adding an air cooled cylinder to a water cooled one to stop people moaning. Also a pipe holder and beard trimmer. Oh, and an electric sidestand as the average age of buyers will pass 65.

What is all this about?
"Changes the the R120 range include a judder damper on the transmission output shaft, revised selector drum actuator in the gearbox and updates to the transmission shafts and transmission shaft P

So I should not BUY a 2016 model because the gearbox is still shite ?

Anyone else notice the bit about side lights being fitted to comply with some Euro trash regs?

from the dark side this was sent

I haven't re read it but I think it was referring to the little orange reflectors on the fork legs.

Maybe somewhat off topic but I'm curious if Brexit will affect BMW pricing?

Probably will do as exchange rate is around 1.20. Doesn't really matter as most will buy whatever the price.

That's only taking into account the exchange rate. If import duties are added it could be significantly more expensive.

Hi Nutty you ordered the T/B yet?
I am just back from hols and have 2 dealers phoning me tomorrow. Away all August in the states so can't pick up til mid Sept when back. Be intrigued, if you ordered, what discount, or not you managed from them.

Well after much research I found this from 2006 :duno

Automation places increasing demands not only
on the single clutch in ASG or clutch-by-wire but
also on the double clutch. The software can and
must provide decisive support in order to make
the whole drive train system more user-friendly
and robust. As an expert partner to the automotive
industry, LuK has therefore worked intensively
on this subject for a long time.
The examples in this paper show a selection of
current results:
• Control of the double clutch transmission in
response to changes in the clutch is extremely
robust.
• Anti-judder control and management can
considerably improve the judder behavior of
the clutch, especially at take-up.
• Slip control can be adapted to vehicle-specific
conditions quickly and routinely and will
be widely used in future.
