I was in Bahnstormer yesterday, and they had the new Airhawk seat for the GS/ GSA. This is a whole seat with buttons to inflate/ deflate on the side, rather than a cushion that sits on the top. It looked quite good. Price is similar to a Sergeant or Corbin seat, so there's now another option for those that suffer with their stock seats.:thumb

Sounds very interesting. I acquired an Airhawk recently and although it does help a bit a better actual seat would be better.
Is this a "BMW Airhawk" seat or an Airhawk seat designed for the GS?

Does any seat allow you to ride almost indefinitely, apart from obvious toilet breaks, as after 2 hours my ass is aching and I need a break. Do the Corbins etc make that much difference?

It looked like a BMW seat with an airhawk built into it

My ass is in agony on the stock GS seat after just 100 miles. With the airhawk on I did a 615 mile day recently on my Europe trip without any discomfort. Most other days were around 200-250 everyday for 10 days. Once you get the inflation right I think they are spot on.

Same for me regarding the ShiteHawk:agree

The trouble is, to get the inflation right you need to keep stopping, getting off, blowing it up a bit more, stopping, etc. With this seat, you can inflate and deflate it while you're sat on the bike, which is a nice feature.

I did 1200 miles on the XR last week, with an Airhawk, and still couldn't find the sweet spot. It's on the shelf ready for the next big trip, but I will persist!

There is very little info on the Airhawk website re the above and in the BMW Motorcycle Magazine mentioned in the advert there is a only a brief description basically saying that the seats are built to order by a third party and tailored to individual requirements

Put it on the bike and fully inflate. Sit on it and deflate slowly until you can just feel the seat through the airhawk. Get off and inflate a small amount, one "fed up" exhale if that makes sense.

The trick is realising how little air they actually need in them. Over inflate and you just roll around on it and if the seat is at all sloped forward your bollocks will be crushed in the process.

I set up my plastic Airhawk ten years ago when I bought it and it has not needed adjustment since - even with some very hot and high riding

I have a 2007 GS with a Sargent seat. It's loads more comfy than the original.

Danny Gray has been doing custom seats for bike (mainly Harley's I think) for over 40 years. He has also done airhawks in Harley seats so this is just an evolution to a different brand. Looks to me as if the button on the side just acts as an air pump - you don't need much to inflate it. A bit like helmets with inflatable cheek pads or ski boots with inflatable liners.:thumb2

I used an Airhawk on my Varadero. The standard seat was agony on my coccyx after 45 minutes, although my wife rated it as her favourite pillion seat. The Airhawk made little difference even though I tried various levels of air pressure. Less is more for Airhawks. Too much air and it's like riding a bouncy castle :bounce1
