Guys, dunno if anyone else with a GSA has already noticed this but the screen on my GSA LC oscillates like a b*stard on full extension. I`m going to get round it by fitting a strengthening bracket. I fitted one to my GS and it seemed to have worked a treat.

If anyone is having the same problem then I hope by sharing this with you it may help you - alternatively if anyone has had the same problem but have solved it in another way could you let me know please?

Just a couple of `disclaimers`:

1. I`m not complaining about my bike - far from it, I think its brill - its just that I`ve noticed something which I am sure is fine, within tolerance and all the rest of it, its just something I would like to sort out and share a possible solution with other lads if they have found the same thing (what the forum is all about methinks.......).

2. I could be accused of `selfish intentions` as I do actually make and sell an assembly to strengthen the screen. PLEASE don`t feel obliged to buy one off me. I believe TT do a fine bracket that does much the same thing and only AS A LAST RESORT contact me if you are stuck.

As an aside, it is a shame that I have to put in the above disclaimers but sadly a very small minority is too quick to jump on things like this and view what is only good intentions with cynicism. Thankfully the huge majority are all goodly chaps with likeminded intentions!

So - if you have a wobbly screen, like me, an answer is a strengthening bracket! TT do a nice one!

I liked that statement

Mark, you've only had the bike a short while and it may be something you get used to or not

I have a 1150GS MRA screen on my GSA and it is a similar thickness material, to the new WC GSA screen

It flexes a fair bit on the motorway, but over the last 10 years, I've got used to it as it really is the very best screen for that particular bike application

So in effect, it's an initial minor annoyance which will soon fade

Perhaps you're thinking about it too much and thus adding more weight to an already heavy WC GSA - I would get out and ride it some more and if it still bothers you in a months time, fine do something

It may not be a problem after that, mine doesn't bother me now............................i'm too busy looking at the beautiful scenery instead:D

JB is on the button, Mark.:thumb

I have the GSA screen on mine, and had it extended it to the highest position, then tested it up to 120mph. It's still on the bike, and didn't fall off or crack.:D

I think that it's designed to flex at speed, something to do with airflow.:beerjug:

I think it just bends.

The airflow is dealt with by huuuuuge Tosser and even huuuuuuuger panniers. I think I know this as a mate has a mate who has a sister who thinks she once slept with a bloke who worked in Munich, close to the factory. But it may have seen Stuttgart or even Stockholm or Stourbridge, she's not sure.

I'm getting the feeling you've been posting here too long Wapping :D but they do make me laugh :beerjug:

Mark, just a thought, but you could have saved yourself all that typing by just saying you'd bought the bit from Nippy's in the first place... job done ;)

Replace it with the standard LC screen - no oscillations :D

Got a pic?

Take the screen off, it'll only get broken when you take the bike for an off road adventure and inevitably drop it. :)

I noticed it on my test ride , in a way that the TC GSA does not . The 1150 screen used to wobble a bit when getting a move on . Its in 2 sections so will wobble and wobble a lot fully extended at high speed . I'm going to live with it :D

Is this a good time to mention that my 06 GSA screen doesn't wobble at high speed in the fully 'erect' position? :augie

It is. The old TC GSA screen was better than the new LC GSA screen, definitely. That's not to say that the new screen can't be made to behave itself, but out-of-the-box, the old one was definitely better, for me at least.

As I say, it's designed to flex and move.:rob Due to the sheer power of the new GSA, a fixed screen would just crack when you hit the sort of warp speeds the new bike will now do.:P

Mark

I find the screen wobbles on mine and that is crap. The old GSA had a good screen and support bracket.

If you are making a bracket I would like one please and do not mind paying for it as all other things I have bought from you have been good quality.

All I ask is please make it quick as the wobble is bloody annoying.

Karl

JB, fantastic words well said and I suspect that after a while you will be right. In the meantime I`ve fitted a brace to the LH side and it seems to have reduced it but I think I will respect experience, remove it and see how I get on. I can always put it back on if I need to. And yes I`m sure the screen is fine - its just me being a kn*b I`m sure. We do tend to get unnecessarily `jittery` over our new bikes at times!

Thanks Nuts that's another one in the `experience` bucket, thanks for sharing it with me.

Didn`t know your wife would let you ride so fast................... :-)

(only joking)

Funny man.

Good idea mate, seriously, but I would like to keep the GSA one simply coz it gives IMHO a little better weather protection.

BTW my deranged mind has convinced me my GS one is wobbling about too. Need to get out more.............
