New GSA screen Oscillation

Take the screen off, it'll only get broken when you take the bike for an off road adventure and inevitably drop it.

Yup, it`ll happen - I can remember taking my previous GSA to Wales a couple of years ago during the bad winds (remember?). It got blown over (honestly) and hit the only fekkin post in the field an broke the screen!

Is this a good time to mention that my 06 GSA screen doesn't wobble at high speed in the fully 'erect' position?

According to my good lady its always a good time to mention about erections........

It is. The old TC GSA screen was better than the new LC GSA screen, definitely. That's not to say that the new screen can't be made to behave itself, but out-of-the-box, the old one was definitely better, for me at least.

+1 but I am not complaining, just agreeing with something I personally also think.

I find the screen wobbles on mine and that is crap. The old GSA had a good screen and support bracket.

If you are making a bracket I would like one please and do not mind paying for it as all other things I have bought from you have been good quality.

All I ask is please make it quick as the wobble is bloody annoying.

I noticed it on a test run yesterday - I wound the screen fully down which is always my preferred position anyway. Funny though, I thought when I saw the wobble that someone would come up with an anti-wobble fix pretty quickly! Given the way that the screen is mounted, I think a bit of flexing at full extension is inevitable without some form of bracing - will you still b bale to adjust the screen on the fly with the braces fitted?

Took a new GSA out for a test ride this morning did about 90 miles on it, V. Impressed (had a quick blast on the r9t & 1000r too)
Was considering buying the GSA screen for my GS if I got on with it.
I found it Fine for buffeting/turbulence but still way too much wind noise (naked r9t so quiet by comparison) Whether it would work any better on the GS, perhaps Nutty might let us know how he's getting along with his?

I fitted a GSA screen on my GS today. Definitely better than the standard screen for me,still a bit noisey but it was very windy.
Hope to give a longer run over the weekend.

I haven't noticed any additional noise from mine to be honest.

The voices in my head tend to keep me distracted most of the time.

Yes but I don`t recommend it, using your left hand loosen the strengthening bracket then use the adjusting knob on the right to reset the screen. Once this is done simply tighten up the strengthening bracket with your left hand. key to this is using one hand at a time (I`m stupid enough to use both btw) but I strongly recommend that you actually stop ya bike when you do this. I do it on the fly but thats because I`m not going to sue my ass clean off if I fall off doing so!

If we make them stiff, they crack and fail, been there, done that. They must flex to survive. Think of an aircraft wing, it bends and flexes by design. If you made it stiff and rigid it would snap.

You should try a 1150 GS MRA screen if you want to see real screen flex

Ditto, having test rode one, I do wonder how long that whole assemble will last, but while it's left alone it's BMW's problem if it fails. Anything you do to alter or improve it just invalidates your warranty.

I gave up even washing my GSA screen after being told the first one cracked because I'd washed it with detergent.

On my test ride out with vines white TE demo bike fitted with tall tinted screen it vibrated when l was doing 80

Nothing worse than what my touring screen does at that speed

Here`s what I have come up with - it uses 2 brackets instead of one which I used on my GS extended screen. It seems fine now and doesn`t wobble at all. Its adjustable and then locked in place by doing the two thumb wheels up

10/10 for effort, Mark, but as mentioned, I'd be concerned about the screen being too stiff now. If your screen cracks or snaps, BMW will refuse any claims, as you've modified it yourself.

Just my 2p, and I don't mean to piss on your chips.

It looks good to me.

I am not interested in having an adjustable screen, once set it will stay set.

If you would like one road tested then let me know, going on a reasonable trip in a couple of weeks

Rear shock

New to this.got a new lc adv.just noticed that I can move the rear shock sideways about a inch.do they all do it?
