After a couple months of intensive study (reading here, ADV, and other surfing), I've gone and signed the papers... :bounce1

I just bought an R1200GS special "Blackline" off the floor at motorhoutrust here in The Hague. It comes black silver black, with a Remus can, ABS, heated grips, clear lenses, and hand protectors. All just 800 euros more than the price of a bare one. 14,888 euros. It's the later 2005 model with no hazard button. Considering the ABS costs over a grand here, I figure I've done well....

I've gotten them to add the Alarm, and I like the big BMW tank-bag for holding my camera.

I'll get aftermarket boxes for the back, engine bars, maybe a hugger, and perhaps tobinator, or larger windshield. Among a zillion other things...

I originaly wanted yellow black black, but this deal seemed hard to resist when it was sat in front of me... :mmmm They offered to paint it yellow, but I figure that it being a limited edition (two month run) it will be worth more resale if I leave it black... (we will have to return to Canada eventually, so resale is a consideration... can't take it back with me :mcgun )

It's going to be a long week or two waiting for it... But I've got to prepare the shed and outside parking spots to tie it down, order in the bits... I'll keep busy... :mmmm

Best of luck with the new bike, and welcome to the forum. :thumb

Check out Caja Sahel for panniers, the search button is your friend here. :)

Know exactly how you feel, waiting patiently for my bike also expected in around 2 weeks. Seem to be spending all my time thinking how I can spend money that I haven't really got on goodies for the bike that I probably don't need.
TBH I thought I would cure that particular problem by changing from rice rockets to the GS. Fat chance! Enjoy the new bike :thumb

I got bored waiting for my Gs - three months and a month in cancelled the order and went for an ST! Now what I need is to keep the ST and get another GS :mmmm :mmmm

Your new GS

Funny how we all love black bikes now! When I started that was pretty well all you could get - except in the army when they were completely sprayed, sometimes even the tyres, in matt khaki. Don't go mad on the extras -if you are a member of the BMW club (if not you ought to be) read my letter on this subject in the latest journal. There is one advantage if you order original BMW extras ( such as panniers, tank bag etc.) and that is that when you come to trade in your bike you can trade them in with it and replace with the later editions. You may save a bit on Touratech or Wunderlich etc; but they won't be quite so acceptable. Tobinators ? Are they bits tacked onto the screen to cut down noise or buffeting? When I find there is too much noise or confusion on board it indicates that I am going at least 30-40 kph over the limit so I just slow down and behave sensibly ....until the next time. If you come to France bring your fire extinguisher with you. Brian in France F
