Having just gone through the process of reinstalling windows I'd rather have a second internal drive for data so that future installs are easier. I've got an external drive that I then use for storing data.

had a look on Ebay and there are SATA, SCSI and god knows what else drives. How do I know what I can and cannot install in the PC?

Sorry to be an idiot if the answer is bleedin obvious :o

Doubt it will be set up for SCSI

What brand/model of PC?

If less than a couple of years old it will probably work with SATA
and may be able to work with "old" PATA

Have a look at the links and compare the cables inside the PC with the images on those links.

Cheers Clive - looks like a PATA to me - don't even need to take the PC to bits to work that one out.

Ebay, here I come!
