Jim from 'Stanton Inc' in the USA has kindly sent me a set of his brilliant rocker cover head gaurds. They're made from cast aluminium and have already proved themselves when the bike went over yesterday after stalling (cold morning, I was in a rush) and I had taken off the engine gaurds to do a service.

These things provide a lot more protection than the BMW ones which are little more than cosmetic.

If youre interested you can email Jim or go to the website, details below:

Simon,

If these are the same ones which appeared on the thread a couple of months ago, do you know if he's sorted out whether they will fit a twinspark head yet?

MikeO:)

Sorry Mike, dont know. I looked at a twin spark yesterday, close up for the first time and the bolt holes for the BMW rocker covers looked to be in the same place as the 1100/1150 so I dont see why they wouldn't.

PS: How are you? On the mend I hope.

Simon
Were they free ?
Would be interested but custom charges and vat make um
a bit pricey :(
Look good though just the thing for our large tanks ;)

Hi gauloises

Yep, Jim was kind enough to 'donate' them towards our up comming trip.:thumb

The pictures dont do them justice, they really are well put together.

I've had my pair on for about a month now. They look pretty good if a tad pricey all in.

I had a few problems with the alignments - they don't slip on that's for sure.

I must admit that I was really keen on getting some of these and had my name down for some from an early stage. However, once they became available and I saw the price ($199 plus shipping) and factored in the duty on importing them, it put me right off. Shame really, because I think Jim would sell them by the boatload if they were priced lower.

How about something along the same lines, Vern?

I like the Stanton Head Guards from Jim too, but the price + shipment and taxes... :(

These are nice too, new from Boxer-Design, but not cheap either: 289 euro!

I had the misfortune to have my brand new twin plug GS roll of its stand on a ferry with 120 miles on the clock!
The head protector saved any major trauma but was smashed to bits.
The cost from BMW is £74.45 inc vat each side!!

Make $199 for two seem like good value.
