We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you! Today, October 22, 2024, we have released a new update for the HEX ezCAN software and firmware, and we think you’re going to love what’s in store.

Update available.png

This update brings support for the Lone Rider MotoLights across all HEX ezCAN GEN II Accessory Managers, thanks to our advanced ezBUS technology. With this, you’ll be able to connect, power, and configure your MotoLights seamlessly, enjoying all the great features these new smart auxiliary lights have to offer. It's an effortless way to boost your visibility and safety on the road.

But that’s not all! We’ve also added a new battery-saving feature called "Only on when engine running." This feature is available for Aux Light 1, Aux Light 2, heated gear, and the ezBUS-powered Lone Rider MotoLights. When activated, it delays the power-up of your selected accessory until a few seconds after the engine starts. Similarly, if the engine stops running but the ignition remains on, the accessory will automatically power down a few seconds later.

This is especially great for those of you in the Northern Hemisphere heading into the colder autumn months, where batteries can face more challenging conditions. It’s designed to reduce the strain on your motorcycle's battery, helping you stay on the road longer without worry.

Thank you for being a part of the HEX community. We are committed to delivering the best, most rider-centric technology, and we hope you enjoy these new features as much as we do.

Ride safe, and enjoy this update!

Out of curiousity - how do you control the central LED of the moto lights? It’s not shown in the above screen grab.

Be nice if the app would actually update on Mac.
Been failing for over a week now - shows as downloading but then fails to connect to server.

Hi There

There is no way to control the spot other than the automatic ways in beast mode and speed blending. This was a decision to avoid it being used in an unintended manner.

Kind regards

Hi PitaNaanRoti

There should be no issues with the update, we've been updating on Mac and Windows for the past couple of months with our in house testing. Can you please check that you're connected to the internet and not using a VPN when attempting the update?

Whenever in doubt, you can always connect your Mac to your mobile phone hotspot, this will avoid any strange configurations on your network and allow you to connect to the standard encrypted ports which our server uses as well.

Finally, if you're still battling, please reach out to support@hexezcan.com with your device's log files for us to review.

Kind regards

Hi Andrew, the central light is a long range spot light. If you look on the grey horizontal panel where there is the name "MotoLights" on the left, on the righ side are three circles. Clicking on this opens a set up feature. It is inside of the Set up that you can do things like set the speed at which the central spot automatically comes on (with your brights).
The spot will only work with your brights... or when you select Beast-mode... when everything comes on at 100%

Thanks for that. I saw the speed blending mode in the video on the LR website. Not sure how to get it into Beast Mode though.

Hi Andrew

That depends on your bike, but the way the logic is setup for beast mode, is that all bikes' aux lights 2 toggle sequence (e.g. on a 1250 you'll triple click the turn signal button) will trigger beast mode. On some models like the Yari, this is not yet available, but we are working on a solution for them :-)

Kind regards

Hi all. This is my first post on this page as I’ve just discovered it.

I’ve just installed my MotoLights and already can say they are way better than the Denali D7’s I had.

That said, I have noticed one small thing that I need help with.

There’s a feature that allows the amber DRL to flash alongside the bikes indicators. I have a 2022 BMW R1250GSA with a Hex EzCan II with latest firmware installed. I’m noticing that my LR lights aren’t flashing in sync with the bikes indicators. I’m wondering if anyone has any possible solutions or ideas why this might be happening?

Here’s a link to a video I took of it.

Hi Misterbrettc

Thanks for the video, could you please reach out to our helpdesk on support@hexezcan.com with your device's configuration file (top right menu > export), as well as device logs (top right menu > upload logs)? The behaviour is quite strange so we'd like to have a closer look at what's happening.

Kind regards

Done, thanks so much for the reply.

I’ve had a win! The support team at Hex are simply amazing. Literally had a fix within one hour of sending them an email!

For anyone else who may come across this problem where the DRL’s are syncing with the indicators - pull the main fuse for a minute and reinsert it! Job done.

Hi guys tomorrow I will start the installation on two bikes and I just want some reassurance on the colour coding connections. I do apologise for the super rookie questions: confounding factor is that I m using motocan with denali and hex ezcan on motolights

1. 2020 GSA: HEx EzCan connected to Motolights + Sound Bomb
motolights connected on the white circuit of the Ezcan with splitter and sound bomb on any other circuit?
Issue is there is no splitter on the Hex Ezcan

2. 2024 S1000XR: Motocan connected to Denali D3 + Sound bomb
Same as above? D3 on the white circuit with splitter and sound bomb on any other circuit?

thanks a lot

Hey mate.
The white circuit on either controller can be a regular power circuit or it can be an EZbus circuit so that’s up to you how you set it up.
Obviously only the MotoLights MUST be on a white line and set up as an EZBus line.

On Bike 1 - MotoLights alone on white and you will have to source a splitter, SoundBomb on any other line.

On Bike 2 choose any lines you like as you aren’t using EZbus. Just make sure you select the amperage for each line that is slightly higher than the total expected draw of each line.

I hope this makes sense.

One of the cables with the motolights is a splitter - the other two included cables are extenders.

Thanks everyone

now the drama:

I stripped down the bike removing the tank, installing cansmart etc. Then I was not so happy about the wiring routing and I have reassembled teh bike back again.

Bike does not start despite battery fully charge. Is like the engine not engaging: you can hear the vigorous starter but not the bike starting..I took a short video but I m struggling to upload it

I’m gonna ask the obvious question- did you reconnect the fuel line? You didn’t clamp it off somewhere further down perhaps?
